Don't know why you're being wide mate but I was referring to him saying he'd spoken to championship scouts rather than his opinion of his performance. Whilst not being world beaters, Asteras are decent team. They've been in the group stages several times recently and were technically good without being magnificent. He has also been quality whenever he's played against celtic, including scoring 2 screamers at celtic park. He also played brilliantly against brondby who we would have beat if it wasn't for a dreadful decision from the ref. He's a great guy on and off the park with a terrific attitude that you would love immediately. Anyway doesn't really matter what I think, doesn't look like he's signing anyway. I would just rather he signs for a team I like and would happily watch him develop than sign for celtic, a team I loath and would need to watch him play against us regularly. You never know, he might stay
Le God
I might be wrong but is 3 or 4 million not a relatively risk free signing in the world of English football?

It is becoming that way, but it depends on the clubs financials. If we sold Vydra for tens of millions, this would be a good signing. But we may need to move several on before spend millions on players...

Tamworthram
I really need to start watching more games on TV not involving Derby and paying more attention to other teams players. I know so little about a good number of names banded around on this forum and yet they all seem to be "must signs" or "hope we get him".

It's all about perception. Spend £4m on an overseas player and the fans get delirious. Spend £4m on an journeyman English player and it's because of the "current market" Spend £4m on an SPL player and it's £3.7m too much because the standard is crap and Craig Bryson only cost £300k. ? In my opinion, McGinn is tailor made for the championship due to his dig and mobility. Unfortunately for you, I don't think you will get anything near £4m and will have to settle for the offer from Parkhead.

Just to put that into perspective it equates to the ticket revenue for the entire season for the South Stand.

Haha so far we've spent about 400 grand on fees which is probably the most in about 17 years and our record fee was 800 grand so I think it's safe to say we operate in a slightly different market. Swap you Steven Whittaker for all 5 aye?

It's the same everywhere, everyone likes an exotic name even though we've probably had more huddies than successes. I'm not so sure about the last paragraph. Think we would rather keep him for the year than accept the pish offer from them. Fortunately McGinn's a good guy who hasn't tried to force the move. Don't know if this happens in England but when celtic or sevco want a player they make ludicrously low offers which then unsettles the player then the daily record or the sun come out with an article titled "[name] in plea to be saved from hibs hell" or something like that and then inevitably we end up losing a player for a cut price. Fortunately the current board don't get bullied anymore and we're standing firm with our valuation.

I think a lot on here will remember similar from when we were trying to sign Johnny Russell all those years back. Scottish papers seemed desperate to drum up a move to Celtic for him leading to much panic, pandemonium and a ridiculously long transfer thread!
