I don't know if either of them are any good, but if they are they'll have options. We can't force anyone to sign, and they may well want to take their time and see who comes in for them. That's not how football works though, is it? Both players have probably been told by their agents just how many clubs are showing an interest, so it would suit them to wait to see who can give them the best offer. Then there's the chance clubs are waiting to see who leaves them before deciding to bring either in. Take us for example, we could be waiting to ensure Vydra is definitely leaving before bringing someone in who will likely fill his position. Then there's the possibility of clubs having targets they'd prefer over these 2, so won't come in for either Marriott or Maddison while their preferred targets are still available. Football isn't as simple as, oh we really like that player so he'll be here within the first week of the transfer window opening. Has there been any movement out of the old back-up staff?? And VIcars is retiring in July. ? Its going to be pandemonium trying to get loans for unwanted , returned players before they can be replaced with new signings..... Someone behind the scenes is going to have to remain very calm and focused !! On the other hand nothing at all might happen................. Any new on the Rush situation?? He just mreds to be in contact with the scouts & whoever deals with the financial side of things. Morris can be in and around the club to keep the day to day stuff ticking over, Lampard just needs to be ready for preseason. Doesnt the loan window stay up another week or 2 til the end of August? Surely having Lampard as manager might be an important factor in attracting some players and if he has no personal contact with those players during any contract negotiations then they may well decide to go elsewhere - particularly young, ambitious players. Of course it’s usually best to do any dealings face to face but it’s not impossible to do them from the other side of the world (or just in a slightly different time zone).
