And you've just as much idea about whether Marriot is too.

League 1 and 2 appearances (to judge them at the same level):

Marriott - 133 games, 44 goals

Bennett - 34 games, 3 goals

Nothing is certain but it's pretty hard to make a case for Mason based on those numbers.

Well you could say that up to Bennets age what was his scoring rate - I bet it was quite similar?

How many starts for Bennett for Derby out of interest

Bennett's stats are strange. He's scored more goals for England at representative level than in all his league matches. Maybe a talent which hasn't fully developed, injuries having had a significant effect on confidence, not having been played in his most effective position - who knows? Still only just turned 22 so worth persevering with, at least as a squad player, for this season at least.

Just now, Rampage said:

Rampage's adve to you Jack is to get down here double quick and start bagging goals because we have players to give you the ball at will.

At will? That sounds like Rowettball - pump it hopefully in the general direction of Watford.

No doubt Marriott would be an interesting signing. I think players like him, regardless what level they're playing at, have the potential to do well. It's that half-second to beat someone to the ball in the box that can't be taught.

If he was skinning three players and then scoring for every goal, you could see how it falls down. He doesn't. It's very much like Billy Sharp, Jordon Rhodes & Britt in a way.

When a player states that they want to play for said club, they normally end up playing for said club.

But it was only a couple of weeks ago it came out Marriott supposedly wants to play for Forest, or something along those lines. It's just their chairman and Barry Fry mucking clubs about

People talking about Mason Bennett’s stats and how he might not deliver.....anyone remember Dean Sturridge?

Sturridge went to Torquay on loan for two months and we got Trollope the intention being a swap.  Sturridge made the most of his loan spell and made Roy Mac think again by getting 5 goals in 5 starts and creating a load more with his pace.  Bennetts had 30 plus games at the same level and got 2 goals. Sturridge was 2 years a professional at the time, Mason Bennett's been here 6 years as a professional( albeit he missed a year with injury).  He may prove better this year than in the past but I can't see him getting 20 league goals per year at this level like Sturridge .

By that logic should I ask for a start? I haven't scored many league goals either.
