Mostyn6
Off the back of some confusing (to me) comments regarding Steve McClaren's spell(s) at Derby County as manager, I'm generally interested if there are people out there that genuinely believe we should never have employed him following Clough's sacking. PLEASE NOTE: Separate Poll started cos was going off-topic on another thread. Yes he's gone.
G STAR RAM
Can't say I was overly ecstatic when we appointed him but happy (most of the time) to give everyone a chance. Think I always cut an extra bit of slack when it's a former player appointed, and the fact he was such a good coach or us too was a bonus. I was quite a big fan of what NC did for us and spent a lot of time defending him but felt the time was right to replace him. Long winded buy my answer is a yes. Also cannot remember back to think of anyone better who may have been available at the time.
Tamworthram
Of course. Why not?
Boycie
I didn’t think he was a good appointment at the time, so I voted no. I voted truthfully. i was glad I was initially wrong in my feelings about the choice of new manager. Can’t believe all the yes’s.
RiddingsRam
I'm with @G STAR RAM here regarding not being overly excited about the initial appointment but on reflection I don't think we would be where we are now if Mac had never been appointed. Clement was the mistake but that's a debate for another day. Either way Rowetts the man to lead the club forward.
Sith Happens
I voted Yes, but that is on the basis that he was a good choice at the time. I wouldnt actually have sacked NC but on the basis we needed a new manager yes i was happy.
JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNesta
I voted no because at the time he was coming off the back of a few rubbish spells and his stock was low. Happy to admit I was wrong on that one. I suspect a lot of people that voted yes were likely very underwhelmed when we first hired him but are refusing to admit their error. Sparkle
We needed a manager and at half time against Ipswich he proved that he new what we needed at that point
rynny
Yes, I got a season ticket because we had appointed him. I was intrigued by what he was going to do, and genuinely excited the first time in about 3 years about going to matches.

Or looking back in retrospect? The poll suggests the former but the post the latter.

There seem to be some who are voting with hindsight. Anybody find the thread of his appointment?
McRamFan
Yes, purely on potential, his stock was low, he had a point to prove. That's how I felt at the time.
Pearl Ram
Voted No because I didn’t have the foresight of what was to come. Obviously I was as wrong about him as it appears I am about Rowett...maybe there’s a lesson for me to learn there.
