Would you like a big signing like say Che Adams to bolster promotion hopes

Yep I'd avoid him. Made comments about not leaving Brentford for another club in the Championship because he loved them so much but then has contract talks with their rivals Fulham. Then goes on to agree a deal with Birmingham to get even more money. God only knows what size wages he's on considering he was their big signing under Redknapp.

Birmingham will be in serious trouble if they go down this year, they’ve sounded serious money on players that have made them considerably worse. When Sam Gallagher chose to go on loan to Brum instead of us it was reported that Brum offered to pay him more money than he’s on at Southampton!

@curtains started this thread with a reasonable suggestion. Just because I didn't agree with it, that didn't stop it from being a reasonable position to hold. Not a personal dig at you @gazram80 , but can we please be careful not to transform this into another pro- or anti-Chris Martin thread?

Yep totally agreed. Was not trying to either was just reacting to an earlier suggestion.

No offense taken.?

Harry strikes again. They’ll be playing Portsmouth in the league soon.

Any player that improves us as a team would be a welcome addition, doesn’t necessarily have to be a big money signing however proven players at this level will fall into this bracket.  We are currently the 4th best team in this league, so it’s short sighted imo to say we cannot be improved, you only have to look at bringing GT on as a number 10 to show we are short of options in that area for example.

I’m pretty sure that no-one this forum with maybe the exception of one or two privileged posters know the situation with FFP so I don’t comment on information that I’d be guessing at, however I’m sure there are players that GR has on his list for Jan, whether we can get them or not is another matter.

Why not he’s a very good player.

Im sure he is, but can we get rid of a couple first.

Billy Davies had us in a top 2 position at xmas, his janury signings virtually killed off our promotion chances, and made it so we had to negoiate the playoffs.

Not necessarily Adams, but a quality addition might help get us over the line.

Think we could probably add a winger, left back or striker to add a little more to our team but you risk upsetting a happy dressing room for the first time in years. A marquee signing however would probably work against us.

Ideally I think another experienced body at centre half and centre midfield to avoid an injury crisis would be wiser.

Another centre half really? are you having a giraffe. Shackell hasnt been near the bench all season and hes still at the club. Pearce is often the one to get demoted from the 18 when we have a midfielder / forward returning from injury and you seriously want a 5th Centre half? what kind of crack have you been smoking this xmas?

I don’t think Promotion will be easy for Derby with this squad in a playoff lottery.

I think they need a couple of quality players in to push us on if we want to avoid the playoffs.

By all means let a couple go.

If we don't sign Che Adams, and he goes on to another club and scores loads of goals, I hope certain posters don't use it as a stick to knock Derby with.

For me it will just be a case of Che la vie if that happens. Seriously though haven't seen enough of the lad to know if he could improve us.

I believe we lack quality within the team, but ultimately we're doing well as a team. We could sign a player or two, who on the face of it are better players, which could lead us to be a poorer side. I am incline to advise that we just keep riding our luck with what we have and not rock the boat.

If we were to sign anyone, it would have to be someone who can create opportunities. We lack that. I know it's going over old ground now, but we really shot ourselves in the foot not going after Ollie Watkins more seriously.
