No they weren't.

There has to be some truth in the fact they were robbed, West Ham didnt pay them £20 million in compensation for nothing.

If it had been the other way round you can guarantee the league would have docked Sheffield United points to protect their precious West Ham.

The idea that you can get relegated by one player in one team is absurd. They went down because they deserved to go down over the season, not because West Ham fielded one ineligible player. As for the money, they have a litigious owner who even took a non-league club to court for gate receipts. He's not called McSue for nothing.

Two ineligible players. It was Tevez and Mascerano. They broke the rules, a point deduction should have been their punishment but the FA waited until the season finished before deciding what action to take and decides it wasn't fair on the league to issue a points deduction.

Did they innocently play the 2 players @rynny, or did they know they weren't eligible and then lie about it when asked?

The owners didn't disclose it when they "signed" them. If they did the signings would not have been completed. It was only discovered when Liverpool wanted to sign Mascerano and West Ham then had to declare it.

They played 2 ineligible players that were absolute world class players, West Ham should have been bombed out of the league and I promise you if it had been the other way around the Blades would have been.

I totally agree with this. Obviously we cant prove it but i am sure thats what would have happened.

Didn’t Sheffield United lose their last game anyway, so would have gone down regardless?

Tevez might have scored the winner, the gd could still have been in West Ham’s favour. Also still took some effort from the other 9 players, look at Argentina with Messi, he can’t drag a team on his own all the time no matter how good he is.

West Ham had 2 players under some dodgy third party ownership, whilst against the rules so is spending within your limit which is why they face a huge fine now.

I would argue breaking FFP rules to gain promotion is far worse than fielding 2 players that have have some weird ownership thing going on.
