That does sound amazing - but what if you don't like mushrooms?? My lad hates mushrooms and would have punched him if that had been the secret special ingredient he wouldn't tell him about

He did ask me if I was allergic to anything & seemed to appredciate my willingness to play along and have it "blind". In fact, he probaby thought I was a real fungi.

Went to the Hand & Flowers in Marlow a few years back. It's Tom Kerridge's pub and the only Michelin two star pub in the world, for what that's worth. Really relaxed in there unlike some lesser and more pretentious eateries, with diners and staff alike all wearing casual clothes, jeans and the like.

Super grub - I had Tom's signature pork dish, a duck parfait starter and no idea what desert as we were all half cut by then. Great company too as was with my fairer half and 4 of my closest friends, but quite a hefty bill, it has to be said. It was my mate Tallerboy's 40th if I recall and we spent around £100 per head. Mate's other half stumped up for 3 bottles of fizz herself with the rest of us splitting the bill otherwise it would have been significantly more. Not sure I'd do it again unless I was on a promise from Salma Hayek but had a great night all told.

Locally we have an Indian called Qumins which is around £30 per head and is out of this world. I do love a decent ruby. A bunch of us head there every month so the owners know us all well and make a big fuss of us which is nice. A round of drinks, coffee and a top shelf single malt (or other preference) always appear on the table but not on the bill which we obviously appreciate but they tend to get it all back on in tips anyway!

I had an invitation for lunch at Claridges ,so I rock up and I am amazed at the attention I am given but thought no more of it .I then get escorted through the restuarant for a guided tour of the kitchen .As we walk round the kitchen I spot the chef's table at the back and ask who will use it next .

The guide looks at me funny and say's it's you sir,  the remaining guests turn up and we sit down for lunch around noon ,there are eight course's and there is a different wine with each course .As the meal wears on the two host's were looking more and more agitated and their secretary was looking more uncomfortable by the minute.

Apparently she was supposed to have booked the normal restuarant not the chef's table and their conversation turned to how they would pay for it .She was dispatched to get another credit card ,we eventually left around 5.00pm and the two hosts several thousand pounds worse off.

I often wonder if she kept her job.

I've been to claridges and had a tour of the kitchen a few years ago through being guests of IBM.

There was a group sweating at the chefs table in the kitchen. Wish I'd paid attention to see if any of the ladies left suddenly on a pretext.......

We also got Gordon ramsay himself giving us a "talk" which was actually a quite amusing invective laden chat.

Can’t believe nobodies mentioned McTurks?

Snobs on here that’s why, the type that nip into the garden and pick something from a bush to stick on top of the meal, nobody ever eats it like, just there to look good.

Same type that wear bow ties.

Like a Bay leaf, nobody wants that in their snap.

McDonalds, Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes

It must be very good. I tried eating there a couple of months ago but I couldn't get a table, as large party that had travelled from Derby were waiting to to be seated. One of them told me that it was the second time they'd tried eating there in the last few weeks.
