To be honest, I'm convinced that footballers don't really improve much after they're teenagers. 

They just find roles, positions and systems throughout their career in which they can display their talents to a greater extent. 

For example, BJ was an absoloute beast as the DM in a backs to the wall team even though it was the first time he'd ever played there.

Not met to be loaded, could equally apply to a player whom has been reinvented by being played in a new position a la Thierry Henry under Wenger.

This window right here is just painful to look at. I remember all the hope and promise that was around when we signed these players. These players were supposed to be the ones to concrete our place as title contenders and get us to the promised land. 3 years on its arguably the route of all of our current problems. Baring Ince and Carson none of those players signed really improved the team.
