The 2017/18 Academy Thread

This season with live streams of every U23 match (within the UK as well as outside) it's going to be much easier for fans to follow the progress of the youngsters. After the fine finish to last year's campaign we're still in the Premier League top flight - can we consolidate our status there and begin to establish ourselves as one of England's top-performing setups? And it will be fascinating to see who, if any, Rowett thinks can make the step up into the first team squad.

While 19 senior pros travelled to Germany to defeat Kaiserslautern, both the U23s and U21s were in preseason action closer to home. The U23s beat Chivas Deportivo Guadalajara Academy 3-0 at Moor Farm while the U18s won 0-3 in Carlisle: https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2017/07/u23s-and-u18s-complete-good-weekend-with-pre-season-wins

Next up for the U23s it's Swindon on Tuesday afternoon at Moor Farm while the U18s are away at Birmingham midday on Wednesday.

I went to a couple of the U23 matches last season and enjoyed it seeing some of the academy players coming through. Hopefully they will have more at pride park so we can go and watch.

its normally a much more relaxed affair and less booing than a Saturday ?

Rams tv is the only place to watch the U23s this year as well. Seems like fans aren't allowed to go and watch at the moor farm anymore

Are you saying they won't be playing their PL2 games at Pride Park and/or St George's?

From what I remember they have to play some games at PP due to the rules, but the majority of games look they will be behind closed doors. Someone can hopefully clarify this

Each club must host at least three league matches at their main stadium during the course of the season, which helps to enhance the matchday experience for the players and fans.

Member clubs' training grounds or Academy venues will be permitted for the staging of up to three home matches over the course of the league season.

Any way these could be put up as a 'sticky' ,as I've no doubt many will want to watch them.

Are RamsTV showing the U23s live?

Pretty sure they are. Will have to check again now you've said that!

Hmm,the free content refers to streaming of U23,and I think I've jumped to a conclusion there about live streaming.

In their opening game, the U18s had a penalty saved but came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Liverpool, who have officially been renamed "Steven Gerrard's Liverpool": http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-county-u18s-open-draw-315067

There's a fuller but pro-Merseyside report from the Liverpool Echo: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-legend-steven-gerrards-managerial-13465361

And I'm not a "lazy linker" - just believe that copyright's important. :p

RamsTV will be streaming Derby County Under-23s’ Premier League 2 Division 1 season opener against Arsenal this evening.

The Rams take on the Gunners at St George’s Park with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.

Starting at 6pm, supporters will be able to watch a review show of the weekend’s Sky Bet Championship meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Coverage of tonight’s Under-23s game at Staffordshire will begin at 6:45pm and will include interviews with Darren Wassall, the club’s academy director, and Kellan Gordon who sat down with us to look ahead to this game.

Jack Woodward and Michael Johnson will be providing commentary of the match this evening.
