The current incarnation of the gumps was 20 April 1982, therefore the history starts there.

A previous incarnation of notts won some cups, but that entity is long dead and buried. This version has a couple of league cups and decades if decline.

Boring

£14 million for Assombalonga?

Hats off to Forest. Who would have imagined Burke and Assombalonga (£27m) would generate more than the sales of Ince and Hughes (£19.5 million)?

They'll miss his goals but if they reinvest wisely, e.g. if they add more quality in defence and midfield, I could see them being a dark horse for the play-offs with Warburton overseeing things.

Daryl Murphy is a good player at this level. He will score goals and provide a physical presence and a focal point for either Cummings or Zach Clough and the midfield to play off and he will also allow Forest to mix it up stylistically.

But £2 million and a three-year contract for a player who turns 35 in March and isn't a goalkeeper.

It really was a big if, wasn't it!

Can you explain this please mate? How did Forest's current incarnation begin in 1982?

They went bust, where liquidated and archived.

A new company was incorporated with a name very close to that if the original, started trading in 1982.

All available in Company House website.

Hope that helps.
