Phoenix Posted April 6, 2017 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Charities for overseas 'missions' are always going to be dodgy, in my opinion. The money's generally unaccountable. As for Oxfam, even 50 years ago it was reckoned that at least 80% of their income was spent raising more income. Around this time, some friends and I put on a concert where the entire net proceeds were given to Oxfam, around £800. Quite a lot in the 1960's. We never even received a letter of acknowledgement. Stive Pesley Posted June 30, 2017 Share Posted June 30, 2017 Ethical dilemma of the day - just had a letter from school asking us all to vote for the PFTA in some Sainsburys charity thing, so that they can "win" some funding from Sainsburys Looking at the list that we're up against and it's all really worthy charities that help people in real need (severe illnesses, trauma victims, bereaved parents etc) I have no idea why our PFTA is even a registered charity, but it feels totally wrong to be begging for votes.
