One year after the transfer to Derby County ricochets makes Danny Buijs still possible transition. The English club again showed interest.

So in other words now his contract is running out we can afford him.

I say this because last time it was personal terms that went wrong. Possibly his wages were too high when taken into conjunction with the fee that would be payable. This time his contract is up, less fee more available for wages etc...

On the question of why is Appleby going to watch him? He is chairman and if there were going to be talks with the player/agent/club it would be a sign of strong interest and wanting of the player by DCFC if manager, chief exec and or chairman are there. A professional and respectful way of doing business.

Looking at his soccernet page he must have been injured this season, only played 14 games (6 of them starts) but has 2 goals and 2 assists to his name.

Could be why the coach quoted in the article above says " no wonder they are interested now he plays again"

Perhaps we found the injury in his medical and weren't prepared to pay the wages he wanted for someone who would possibly hardly play. Having read the last article again it seemed we only offered him a 1 year deal - maybe because of the injury.

Like I've said in another thread, I was looking forward to him last season and we missed out so hope we can get him this season.

From what I've heard he sounds like a championship built player, a energetic all action midfield player, he can also play Right Back which we DO need cover for, so hopefully we can get him in.

Sorry misread the stats earlier, it's 14 appearances, 2 goals from 2 shots.

Only 6 starts though including the other night.

8 were sub appearances.

Since Appleby was at the game, how about a cheeky bid for Luuk de Jong of twente. A future Dutch national team star. I know he might cost the earth, and is probably eyeing up a move to a champions league team, but hey ho, get in their first derby!

Having more involvment from Appleby has to be a good sign. At least GSE are not leaving Glick and Clough stranded as seems like happened in the past.

Moving for players who we showed interest in last year, but could now get in on a free is sensible business.

Very sensible, but business all the same. If he could have made a difference this season then surely spending a few quid earlier on could have been good business too? Finishing higher up the league would have brought in more revenue- penny pinching is not always the best way to proceed. The fact that he didn't get snapped up by anyone else in the meantime suggests that maybe he isn't that good or he is too big of a risk with his injury.

I do like the look of him though and trust the judgement of Clough

From the translated article it appears that we offered him s year contract and he wanted longer. Maybe he was carrying an injury and longer than a year would have been too risky for us when paying a fee?

Agree with the general principle of it being too much of a gamble, but that hasn't stopped us previously with certain players, ie. Hulse, Davies, Anderson etc.

Davies got a year extension Based on his attitude, and has stayed fit since his return. Similar to what we offered Buijs

Maybe lessons have been learnt. After all no new deal for Hospital.
