So my point is, 2 games is not even close to being enough. Especially with a trigger happy chairman in charge. I would argue that you are doing Mel a disservice with that remark. It was clear that the club was going backwards with the managers appointed and I think Mel has been brave and took the Bull by the horns before any other team snatched Rowett and he did the right thing for DCFC. t'oldu
I felt the team had finally grown up last night Rowett had a plan and they executed it. Bryson says he is the first honest straightforward manager since Clough. It showed. The pass and move was back, progress was forward, they all had jobs to do and they worked as a team. Play was purposeful and fast without being frantic and never became desperate !! What a relief for the players . What a relief for the fans. Interesting to hear that he had spent time last week analysing videos of all Vydra's Watford goals and discovered he needed to be allowed to explode. And didn't he just. He was all over the pitch with no hint that he expected the rest to feed him by right. And Nugent was Nugent. There is no place for Martin in this squad. I'm not doing Mel a disservice at all. His treatment of his managers has been nothing short of abhorrent thus far.

We have already had potentionally good managers but the faults have been laid by Mel backing players rather than his managers. Some thing that has hopefully been laid to rest. Good performance last night though, but still need to close games down and finish it off rather than the last few mins we had against Qpr. Mel Morris has got guts in abundance and he has made the right decision with Rowett. I sometimes wonder if fans on here really know DCFC at all. Derby fans in other circles are delighted McClaren has been replaced again.

It makes it sound more like they'd rather stay honestly in mid-table (as under NC) than compete at the top end (like under SM, PC, DW). Bryson has perhaps been part of the problem holding us back. Why not compare it to previous positive performances? McClaren had positive performances this season, and I expect Rowett will have negative performances in the coming weeks. But I won't be quick to judge as it's the overall that counts, not the isolated. Yeah, fair point.

We need at least 5 or 6 new quality players whilst selling the likes of Camara, Blackman, Weimann etc to free up funds. Rowett's a smart man and can see where we need to improve though. We need at the very, very least a new RB, new cb, new cdm(possibly 2 depending on Thorne) and a left winger. Can't agree with your 5 or 6 unless you're thinking of bringing in players who will be squad members rather than definite starters, which has been the problem with much of our recruitment in the last 2 years. No way do we need to replace over half of last nights' starting eleven - 2, maybe 3 at most but these additions would need to be of a quality level that's noticeably better than what we have. I don't think you're quite getting the point I'm making mate. My point wasn't about McClaren, he was an example. The point is that we as fans need to retain a sense of perspective and remain a bit more balanced in our reactions to wins and defeats. Good form or bad form we need to just rein it in a bit in my opinion, as i think @rynny is saying. Two games is far too early to tell and whilst we have a feel good factor right now let's manage expectations and focus on the bigger picture in that there's a lot to do and we will have ups and downs. We as fans need to remember our part in this and it's amazing that the atmosphere is positive right now, let's not put unrealistic expectations on Rowett because when he inevitably doesn't meet them we tend to turn nasty and go through the whole cycle ad infinitum. Alph
Here we go. People starting spunking too early again. Build it up and then at the first sign of bad results they'll be the first ones to moan. We beat both Forest and QPR already this season. We were as poor for the opening 45 v Forest as we were good in the second half. Don't get me wrong, be enthusiastic about Rowett. But put your willy away ffs. These are the drama queens that amuse me. I've bookmarked so many pages for when they start bitching. Right now they cry at anyone that doesn't think we'll be promoted by next January. By next January they'll have called for Sean Dyche at least once.
