Are all those advocating a permanent line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation preparing for Hughes leaving the club.

I personally dont know where he will fit in to a 4-2-3-1 formation

He didn't even get on the pitch in GR's first game. Tomorrows team will be interesting.

In the 2 or in the 3 as attacking mid if we want a slightly less attacking front 4. I'm sure I read Hughes say he'd like to play at 10 and although he doest get enough goals I think he'd be great if given a roaming 10 type role as long as he had runners

Rowett want to bring the best out of Hughesy. I'd say in the 2 or behind striker.

Don't forget Rowett have another 2/3 formations.

Rowett did say other week that the team against forest won't be the one for tomorrow night game so will see if Rowett actually right of saying that.

Didn't he play and captain the under 21 team the other night in a 4231? Then got raved about his performance. That might be a good start?

Jeez that's us buggered then , his sell on price will be very low as a midfielder who can only play in a three and it limits who we can sell him to ,,,, in all honesty if he is so limited then he s not the potential quality young player I thought he was and we should offload him ,, as I've said before I believe this whole stuff about our players only being able to play in one formation and one way is a load of old bull ,,, perhaps the problem is our players are not working hard enough to improve the weaker parts of their skill sets and are content to trade on the bits they are better at and the whole strength of a team is players in it understand each other's strengths and weaker points and cover each other ,we don't help by making excuses for them , again if true then we need to sell Hugh's fast before everybody realises that he can only play in a 3 , personaly I think it's guff and more to do with attitude and effort

Rowett said it wouldn't be the same team?

Fair enough. I don't recall that.

It's more to do with where said players are played. Hendrick and Bryson played in the DM position. Give me a laugh, totally wasted.

As is Butterfield.

All of Butters, Hughes and Bryson are attacking midfield players. Even Johnson isn't naturally defensive. We've tried shoe-horning them into false positions. We've signed players because of what they've done elsewhere then tried to force them into different roles.

I rate all of the above. It's a shame we can't fit them all in. But I hope GR this summer builds a squad where each player fits a role, knows that role, his purpose. It might mean some will move on and I'll wish them well. But it's about the team, not Hughes, not Butters, nor Keogh not any of them. The team.

FTR, I still expect an unchanged XI tomorrow. I think GR will give them the benefit of doubt. Replicate the second half at Forest. If they don't, THEN expect changes.

Some midfielders are stronger attacking than they are defending and visa versa and as such you juggle the roles and balances a bit but midfielders really need to have a far more rounded skill set this coupled with the crippling allowances we seem to make for ours to be specialist one trick ponies is madness ,, we took our record signing Bradley Johnson who came in having won promotions at other clubs , been fans fav and started fantastic for us , we have now whittled him down to a totally lost soul who fans can't find a role in midfield for him where he fits properly and I'm sorry we do this with most of our players , we make excuses constantly saying they are played out of position or asking too much of them to go beyond what they feel they are best at ,, I'm not saying play the winger in goal here folks , I'm saying I expect Decent midfielders to be able to tackle , pass , cover the ground and read the game , now if we can get a manager ( hope its rowett) who can get our players to have the right attitude to this issue we may well get promotion and we may see player improving with us and their value rising rather than dropping like a stone within months of joining us

Let's say Rowett finds a strike force that lights up the scoreboard then why do we care what martin brings next season. It's all very premature to discuss the Fulham substitutes role here, and he prob won't even be here anyway.  Too much hypothetical. Move on.
