JG400 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I am pretty sure we would be in a much lower league position than we are now if we would have stuck with Pearson , but I wonder whether we would be any closer to clearing out the S^^^ from this team Its going to take to much season ticket purchase time under mcclaren, I cannot stand another season of boom and bust trying to make these players work
jagerbob Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I wasnt at the game, but most games I have been at over the last 3 years, when we have had runs of conceding shed loads, it has come down to the wholer team not defending, in particular the forwards and midfielders not defending from the front. I still cant believe we have no proper holding midfielder at the club, and havent since Eustace left. We've been through so many purchases yet not once have we bought a combatitive midfielder. Johnson has done well to try convert, but that has to be a failing on the club not to bother getting someone else in. - over several seasons. Mascerell, de saat, thorne they can all play a bit in terms of being the playmaker and getting us move forward, but seriously, when will we ever learn to protect the back 4 down the middle of the pitch.
Andicis Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Clearing the ****? You mean, like our previous top scorer Chris Martin. Yeah, no thanks.

I'd imagine that, that is exactly what Mac will be looking at correcting next season...Plus several other gaps

Not sure I agree with you about Thorne? Mascarell and De Sart are a bit light weight, sure. But GT's first season, his defensive positioning and tackling and his creative forward passing was world class. He's just been injured pretty consistently since then. We do miss a Eustace type player and still think he could've stayed for one more season, but ce la vie.

The original post stated that would Pearson have cleared out the squad, my point was that Pearson was actually making the problem worse. Wasn't implying anything of the sort. However, the thread saying Pearson would have cleared the **** out I disagree with, since replacing Martin with Vydra is doing quite the opposite.
YouRams Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 We're a soft team, we have good footballers but no one with any steel, been the same the past few seasons. His name always gets banded about but a Joey Barton wouldn't be letting teams carve through us like Bristol and Cardiff have, to be successful in the championship you need a bit of spite until we have that we will see the same season after season.
JG400 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Quite frankly for the first time in years I am wondering whether the £900+ (*2) investment (of my hard earned precious money) is worth it without some pretty clear indications that DCFC are going to address the decline in crap signings and progress . I know money means nothing but we are one of the best supported clubs in the league and are 11th (where were we this time last year and the year before) in the league...

Now now. We both know Martin is about more than just goals, and also factor in Martin has had to settle in a new location etc, play a different style. With Chris Martin whilst goals are important, it's not the only important factor.
Uptherams Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Is it me or have we scored 6 in our last two league games. Is it me or have we scored 12 in our last 5 league games. I personally think we should drop Bent...

The_Sheriff Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Some people are not going to be happy until we have Chris martin playing. Bent cant do anymore then what he is and lately him and Ince are carrying the team. Yet we need a Striker who can defend or the ball can stick to more. Call me old fashioned but the requirement I ask of my striker is that he scores goals! Let the midfield keep the ball.

I don't remember you posting that a month or so ago when we were unbeaten in ages. You've be having a season ticket for years and this is the first time you are wondering whether to renew!
