Animal is a Ram Posted February 3, 2017 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Derby County Chairman Mel Morris has committed to providing free coach travel and subsidised ticket pricing for next month’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion. The game at the Amex Stadium was this week selected for live coverage by Sky Sports and, as a result, has been moved to Friday 10th March 2017 (7:45pm kick-off). Derby’s Chairman wants to make sure that supporters don’t miss the big game against the current Championship leaders on the South Coast. Therefore, he will subsidise the cost of travel for those that head to the game on the club’s Roadrider service. In addition, Mel will also ensure that supporters don’t pay any more than £20 for an adult match ticket and £15 for concessions for the game by covering the cost that Brighton will charge over that price. Derby have been informed that an allocation of 2,300 tickets will be made available for away supporters. Brighton’s ticket pricing is set at: Adults £32, Senior Citizens (65+) £24, Under 21s £24, Under 18s £18, Under 10s £10. With Mel’s pricing commitment, tickets will instead cost: Adults £20, Senior Citizens (65+) £15, Under 21s £15, Under 18s £15, Under 10s £7.50. Speaking about the decision, Mel explained: “As a result of Sky’s decision to move the game to the Friday night, the opportunity for our supporters to make the journey down to Brighton has been severely impacted. “We are keen to have a big away following for what will be a crucial game for us, so we will be providing free travel and subsiding ticket prices to ensure as many of our supporters as possible can be at the game. “We value the backing that we get both home and away incredibly highly. Our supporters are critical for us in what we are seeking to achieve both this season and beyond, so we hope that this gesture will be positively received and will result in a full away end at Brighton.” Full ticketing and travel details for the game will be confirmed on dcfc.co.uk following next week’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round replay at Leicester City, but the club felt it was important to inform supporters of this decision at the earliest possible opportunity. * Please note that should Derby progress to the Sixth Round of the Emirates FA Cup, the game at Brighton will be postponed and re-arranged for later in the season. Well done Mel Morris. Mel is in such a minority but he's prepared to think outside the realms of his own world and consider others. A trait not really found nowadays throughout football.
