nottingram
Can't believe anyone would say play offs. FA Cup Final would be a once in thirty or forty years event for a club like us. We've been in the play offs two of the last three years.

RadioactiveWaste
We'd even get some "populist" support and attention for the FA Cup final instead of being dismissed as "oh, them from Derby" in the play offs. Minor point, I know.
eddie
The biggest disappointment in my life, bgger than being cheated out of the European Cup by Juventus, bigger than any relegation, bigger than any playoff defeat, was losing the FA Cup semi-final at Hillsbrough. My sincerest wish is that we right that wrong before I die. I'm not asking us to win the FA Cup, just to get there. Playoffs? Nice, but pretty common. The excitement of an FA Cup final appearance and a chance of seeing us win it would more than compensate for not going up. And Europe!! Imagine the euro nights. Sparkle
No question FA cup final all day long - a life time of hoping play offs would be nice but I have been to three finals but I would prefer to win the league so 2017 FA cup winner 2018 UEFA cup winner 2019 championship winners 2020 premiership winners 2021 champions league winner 2022 Detox
ram59
Put it this way, is there anybody on here who would not have rather won the FA Cup as opposed to beating WBA in the play off final? You cannot undo an FA Cup win, you can promotion.
CumbrianRam
Just noticed the FA Cup final Saturday, play-off final Monday on late May bank hoilday weekend, wonder what would happen if a team reached both!

I'm prettt sure there's not a poster on here who was alive last time we got to an fa cup final? I was but too young to know much about it. I remember collecting some cigarette cards (Turf? Probably what they were made from) with the likes of Carter, Doherty and Stamps on them.

GenBr
We get in the playoffs all the time these days - nothing special. A cup final though - a very rare event for us - easy choice to make.

I stand corrected... my grandad was born a few months after we won it so shows my age! i was buzzing when we got to the league cup semis at the time! fa cup has always been magic to me. We may moan about officials now, but in the 70s the average ref and linos looked like your grandad and moved about as quickly. They were rarely up with play. Bald Eagle's Barmy Army
I don't want to see us in the play off final, I want to see us in the FA Cup final, but the week before that I want to see us creep into second spot on the last day of the season and get promoted automatically. Andicis
FA cup without a shadow of a doubt. Winning promotion would be great, but then, we could get relegated the very next season. An FA cup will be part of a club's history forever.
