eddie
Derbyshire failed dismally today, so we had a beer day in Nottingham. This stuff is simply wonderful... When we got home, I ordered half a dozen from Kurt.

Straffe Hendrik Quadruple, lovely beer, the only other I have tried is the Westmalle Triple, also wonderful. Inverurie Ram

The one I'm looking forward to trying is the Gruut Inferno. The others are all firm favourites of either myself or the Memsahib, but Gruuts are beers I have never tried. They don't use hops for bittering but an infusion of herbs - very old type of brew. I have often walked past the Gruuthuise in Bruges but never ventured in to try their wares, so it's probably about time I gave it a go.
Inverurie Ram
I enjoyed the Westmalle Double last night @froggg I got stuck into most of the beers on the James Clay - International Bar list of the midsummer beer happening festival in Stonehaven 2019. Also tried a couple of others off the full beer list including the festival beer. http://midsummerbeerhappening.co.uk/beer/ Edited June 22, 2019 by Inverurie Ram froggg
eddie
I love Früh Kölsch and Schneider Weiße (although I prefer the Aventinus). I can feel a German day coming on shortly. Canal House on Wednesday, probably.

CWC1983
Favourite is clockwork tangerine. On tap up the road, not so much down here. Stumbled accross it in Oxford last week randomly. Tried Brewdog local rivals last month, Fierce beer, and they were an 'acquired' taste. Their cask 'smoked' lager tasted like someone had left a regal king size butt in the glass..... 2 hours ago, Steve How Hard? said: Haven't had the Punk or Dead Pony but the Elvis is a very nice slurp. ?? Haven't seen it for sale in the supermarkets recently unless I haven't been looking properly.
eddie
I know that some of you guys are fed up of me extolling the virtues of filthy foreigner Belgian beers, so today we are at the St Austell Brewery, having a few wonderful English beers. I thought that you approve. Cardinal Syn - a very nice fruity Belgian-style dubbed, rich and malty. Bad Habit - a crisp, spicy Belgian-style tripel - sharp yet well-rounded at the same time. Sayzon - a delightful Belgian-style saison - this is a farmhouse beer for drinking while toiling in the fields (or in our case, sitting in the brewery bar, wondering how many I can carry back to Mevagissey to drink later). eddie
Stardate Tuesday additional - now trying a take on a Belgian-style witbier called 'Baobab', produced in conjunction with the Eden Project. Another sunny day special.

However, I am also accused of talking crepe, which is French, of course.
Stive Pesley
Went in the new Belgian bar at the weekend opposite the Dolphin - it was a very nice atmosphere, and always good to go in a new bar whilst the toilets are still in decent nick! I had a couple of La Chouffe's on draft - which I think is first for me this side of the channel Not the cheapest mind - but then they are going for the specialist market I guess
uttoxram75
Had a few glasses of Leffe Ruby at the weekend, first time I've ventured into @eddie territory and I was amazed how nice it was! froggg

Good man. There's a new Belgian Beer Cafe opened up in the Cathedral quarter in Derby. The Memsahib and I are going there for a few tomorrow afternoon - just for research, of course. I'll let you know what it's like and give you a few tips on your inevitable descent into Belgian obsession. PS I had a pint of Titanic Plum Porter this afternoon, seeing as the cricket ended a day and three quarters early. Bloody lovely, proving at least one good thing comes from Stoke. Is that the worm that turned? @Coconut can give you a good review on the selection. I went Saturday too, only thing I could drink was the French Cider, which was nice. The prices are a bit steep though.
