The being patient and supporting Pearson thread

This transfer window, and particularly yesterday, was our first  proper kick up the arse. The squad needed it (as do some of our fans) and no doubt it won't be the last one. I'm just glad we're seeing some proper steps being taken to stop the rot.

The dream is over, we would have been promoted by now with the core set of players who got us to Wembley (and since failed twice after!). The changing room needs some life injecting into it, and although I would liked to have kept Martin and Hendrick, I can see exactly why Pearson has chose to do his business this way, and actually think we got a good deal out of both (well done Sam and Mel).

Leicester fans told us he'd make decisions that seemed strange at the time. I'm willing to give Pearson time and my full support. He's the captain of this ship now, not a bunch of players who we've grown to love and pity over the past 4 years.

We simply weren't good enough to get ourselves out of the Championship with the team we had. Changes had to be made.

I've said for sometime that we'd win nothing with Chris Martin up front, and we shall now see if that is the case?

Our coaches are not hobbyists! this is their profession, they have a plan and I for one am very happy to finally see some pace upfront. It probably won't be this year? But I believe we will get back to the Premier League under Nigel Pearson. Problem is...that's when the moaning will really start!!

I personally think our current team had reached the end of the line.

Full of hope and optimism to begin with, providing us with some fantastic swashbuckling performances - but ultimately not quite good enough against the top teams.  The weight of expectation and coupled with several near misses was beginning to show on the players, some of which were/are starting to show their sell-by dates.

We had a good run and a great few years, but we need to reinvent ourselves and go again.  I am personally happy for this season to see us in transition and to lower expectations a bit.  Give Nigel Pearson time to rebuild the squad and he'll get us up before his contracts out.

Short term pain, long term again.

What a debut game Newcastle will be for the new signings and the crowd. Can't decide whether to drool or run to the gents

yes , think this is the ideal game , no pressure as Geordies will be all the media talk about , better playing them than a Rotherham or Blackburn at home where most fans would be expecting a win , go along enjoy the game , support the lads , not just the new ones , oh and btw anybody going along to be negative , boo or abuse players / manager / mel etc please stay away , i fir one would much rather have a lower attendance than people turning up making it a pantomime with their booing and hissing

I am hoping the tweaks in the transfer window works for the team.

I think it was good business with Martin temporary out  [possibly never to return]  plus a few quid in the bank and 10.5 million for Hendrick [Burnley have been mugged ]

Looking forward to seeing Vydra, Wilson and Anya light up the championship.

Lets get behind NP, his staff and players.

Change had to come,Someone  commited with expierience and knowledge of the game, wanted.

Nigel Pearson step up,so far 11 plus million spent    --    .And 10 plus million recieved plus Martin off the wage bill

So we can assume the wage bill  not effected. Our squad had run its coarse, and dificult decisions have to be made.

To break up a team and move forward takes time and patience, and two out --two in shows it will be aq gradual process.

And gives the players at the club a chance to evolve with the changes. welcome-----Nigel Pearson

Maybe putting it a little bluntly but Pearson's changes (especially the obvious one) shows that if you're not performing or buying into his vision then things will be changed. Nobody is untouchable. That can go one of two ways, it will demotivate the masses in the changing room or it'll give them a kick up the bum. As professional sportsman you'd hope it'd be the later.

I think we're moving forwards!
