admira
FORMER Derby County and Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Middleton has died, aged 59. Middleton, born in Lincoln, played for the England Youth team in 1975 and represented England Under-21s while at Forest, winning three caps. He helped Forest win promotion from the Second Division in 1976-77 before he joined the Rams in a £25,000 deal which included an exchange in which Archie Gemmill went to Forest. Middleton made 80 appearances for Derby before a persistent shoulder injury forced him to retire in 1980. He played 90 times for Forest.
Van der MoodHoover
Very sad news and thoughts with his family. I remember us getting John and that it was a Tommy doc deal which didn't go down well at the time. He got displaced by Shilton at forest didn't he, having done the hard part in getting promotion. Ewetube
I remember John well, his injury kept him out clearing the way for David McKellar to take the No.1 jersey which made me very uneasy. RIP John.
