How to not beat Wales the easy way in four easy and predictable steps:-

Step 1 - Pick the same team

Step 2 - Miss your chances

Step 3 - Give a couple of idiotic free kicks away for Bale to make us look like donkeys

Step 4 - Make substitutions when it is too late to make a difference eg after 60 minutes.

News Flash - England Manager fails to implement Step 4 of the Plan and ends up winning the game!

Hodgson....What a guy!

Slovakia, same starting eleven as Russia and Wales, Why not?

thought walker was very impressive, great going forward and causes so much trouble, think Rooney suits the midfield role perfectly, he controlled the game, Alli was anonymous and dier is the perfect player to shield the back four

I admire his endeavour and athleticism just wish he was a tad smarter sometimes. I thought Rooney played a real captains game, in control of everything.

Agree entirely.

Walker has the ability to go from nowhere to somewhere every time he picks the ball up. Then he starts looking for the perfect pass. It's like Cyrus Christie, go with the one that presents itself first and see where instinct takes you.

As for Rooney. Always loved the guy. If his name was Rooninho and he played for Brazil and Dortmund then how highly would he be rated. He's such a great player and it's unfair that the minute things go wrong for England that people look to him even though he's "overrated"

Why look to him then?

Been a great, great player. Still a great player who's probably been evolving into a midfielder longer than we all recognise.

Agree with everything  apart from this apart, I actually think it would be the opposite. His midfield work is appreciated more in England but if he was foreign and performed he wouldn't get acknowledged either as midfielders aren't appreciated. Look at the likes of Kroos, Busquets, Modric, Verrati, Iniesta, all are brilliant but aren't given the appreciation they truly deserve as they are midfielders and it's only fashionable to score goals.

The Rooney problem, might've had a better career in the England shirt if he had Wayne Rooney supporting him in midfield.

Just showed Wales for what they are I'm afraid...... Could be sitting here after Monday evening with them bottom of the group..... Avoid defeat at all costs from them today. Can't blame them in a way.....

Lets hope I don't see Sterling starting for England again.

Thought Alli was way off it today, Kane also. Thought Lallana did well until he ran out of steam.

It was coming..... Rooney MOM.

We had a better version of the midfield Rooney, Paul Scholes but managed to balls up as he didn't fit into 4-4-2

:lol:He played in 4-4-2 week in week out for Utd!!! The problem was trying to shoe horn Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham into the 4 which meant Scholes was put on the left, so he retired from international football.

I've thought Rooney's best position has been in midfield for a while. I mean, if it wasn't for good finishing, what other attribute does he have which makes him a top striker? His best attributes are his vision, passing range and ability to dictate play. He's been a midfielder playing in a further forward role for years.

I thought Walker was excellent, and Smalling was great at the back.

Sterling is awful and other than speed offers nothing. His movement, footballing brain and basic attributes such as first touch, passing and control is Championship or below standard. I honestly can't believe how he's in the squad. I'd rather have Albrighton out there, at least you would be guaranteed a solid delivery every now and again. Sterling is worse than Theo Walcott and that's saying somehting.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli I thought were very average too. Daniel Sturridge offers far more due to his ability to carry the ball, which  thought he did pretty well.

Aside from his goal Jamie Vardy didn't have a touch. Playing against a deep defensive line doesn't really suit him, but at least he offers movement and drags defenders about.

Adam Lallana was decent but also has very little end product. Great movement and energy, but definitely the right player to bring off when searching for a goal. Eric Dier was solid too.

Joe Hart. I can't be the only one who thinks Fraser Forster is just all-round better?

Operation Parrot had to be used at half time, Hector the Parrot nipped out the window flew straight into the England dressing room squalking "vardy wants a party" "studger the budgie" "pieces of man youth, pieces of man youth" and " get sterling off, and then get lallana off".........Hector flew back up North and was back  on the TV for the winning goal and celebrated with a flying header......

Everything's gone @rse over tit, everything in the gaff has been turned on it's side, Russians and English journalists have just snuck out of my sofa.........

English Parrot Runs Amok in France, Plastic Chairs and Beer Bottles Everywhere & Tear Gas All Over The Trill.......

Worryingly, this could be your finest hour Inverurie. Is this a sideswipe at Roy of the Drovers?  Please stop using the hair drier on the Parrot, (Pic 1) that is Fergie's job surely. :D

Zero sympathy for Wales, any of their players or Chris Coleman. If you claim to be here on merit, if you claim to be good enough, then play. Gareth Bale said that no England players would get into their side. I understand that's mostly tongue in cheek and intended as a mind game, but at least show a bit of threat for goodness sake. A Bale free-kick from a keeper error (again) is all they offered. I know they only needed a draw, but you can't try and defend for an entire half. They should have had their wake-up call when it went 1-1, instead they went more defensive. I don't mind teams seeing it out, but they tried it for basically the whole game which in my opinion is pathetic. They also went ahead against Slovakia and tried to go defensive about 15 minutes in. It took Slovakia scoring for them to try and play football again.

A great afternoon, lost my voice at the pub and have a lot of Welsh friends from when I was at uni in Cardiff who are very quiet on social media etc...
