Football League reform

It would make it more likely a club would get promoted in any given season, but also more likely to get relegated, if same 3 up/3 down system was applied.

9/20 clubs would either be automatically up or down or in play-offs, almost a 1 in 2 chance, rather than 9/24 now.

Its all about getting B teams in the league for the big clubs.

Why can't they just be honest for once in their corrupt, greedy, moneygrabbing little lives. Do they really think people can't work it out?

Why won't they try and make their case instead of sneaking it in under the guise of it being good for the wider game.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, ManUre, possibly Spurs and Liverpool will all put B teams in so they can stockpile young talent to the detriment of the rest of the clubs.

If the Premier League are in favour it will be for the benefit of them only. All the rest is spin doctor bollux. The aim is to concentrate wealth and power on the few.

Its like a Tory party manifesto ffs.

I'm agreeing with @uttoxram75 with this. But at same time supporting the idea..

Okay, main reason is less games. Modern day footballers have to play enourmous amount of games during the season, 50 is basicly the start + friendlies. It's just too much, only defenders and goalies can survive it without injuries, You could say those are part and parcel of the game, but 8 games less might do big difference. I know they get paid well, but sounds bit stupid to go to work when you can be sure you'll get certainly injured every now and then. Less games in season, so bigger clubs wouldn't need as big squads so good players would be available for lower leagues too. For example us, we are bloated at the moment and about ten players could be moved straight away! Some plyers taking step down might actually develop as a footballer... So overall it would do good for the level of football, especially as players would be more fit.

Add more weekend games so fans could be added to those who benefit of this reform. And if fans are happier and players more fit, IMO it would be good change. Rest who are involved in football are just serving these two groups.

Here's a suggestion.

Amalgamate the football league, (part of) the conference and the premier league, creating a 5 division league.

Employ a system where each club gets an equal share of a quarter of the TV money and the other three quarters is then split for prize money based on the club's position at the end of the season.

Rename the divisions as Division 1 through to Division 5.  All clubs must be wholly independent from others and the trapdoor to the non league divisions remain.

That way top players can be shared amongst a wider proportion of clubs rather than have them all sitting in the top four's non-existent reserves team kicking their heels. This way the England team would see a greater number of better players getting more game time, playing against competitive opposition.

Everyone is happy.  Except the champions league teams and Sky... bugger!

The less games argument is nonsense. If clubs really cared about you wouldn't see the doing lucrative end of season tours if the far east,

like I said, + friendlies. Getting millions out of one is much better business than annual trip to Burton...

So they are adding 4 more teams to the professional league and splitting it into 5 groups of 20.  That makes sense.

If the 'big 4' (who are they this year?) push their youngsters into the lower leagues, on loans and/or agreements with small clubs, what happens?  The football at that club could improve, attendances improve, more home grown players come through, more money comes in at grass level.

I personally like some of the ideas on offer.  Only playing matches on a Saturday would allow me to plan matches better (and therefore make it worthwhile for me to have a season ticket again) and a shorter season would help with player fatigue and fixture congestion.

If the talk of including Premiership B teams proves true though I would be strongly against that (even if it was at the expense of our future academy plans) and I would like to see more money filter down to lower league clubs to compensate for loss of income.

I really don't see how all this is beneficial.  Each respective division will be diluted and the, already meager, spread of sponsorship/TV money to each club will go down.  Sounds like it's devised to make the Prem even more exclusive than it already is.  The FA should be doing all it can to level the playing field when it comes to running the game, not cementing the Prem's grip...

4 drop from Championship to Div 1

8 drop from Div 1 to Div 2

12 drop from Div 2 to Div 3 (old Conference)

16 drop from 'old Conference' to North and South?

10 drop from each of North and South to ?

Everyone after that drops a Division? or has nowhere to go?
