Mostyn6
Same shizzle... different season. Same time next year? If we keep the nucleus of this team next season, it'll be the same outcome again. No doubt in my mind. The worst thing about sacking Steve McClaren in my opinion, is that he would've ripped apart the defence, but sadly, we went again, and even added another soft touch with no stomach for a battle. This team needs a new spine. As for last night, let's also be realistic, it wasn't that good. It was purposeless football, like the stuff we played a couple of managers ago. Posh Ram
100% agree... this is the third successive year with us falling at the big stage. Simply "going again" would be idiotic. Things need shaking up and except for Thorne and Hughes I'd be looking to change the core as well as selling Ince, Johnson and Blackman at a loss if we have to. Jayram
The only problem last night was that we lacked penetration and when Weimann went off the non-entity that is Tom Ince reduced what attacking threat we had. I genuinely think we are only 2/3 players short of a promotion winning side - new CD, CF and a winger, as long as the right manager comes in and certain philosophies change, such as always relying Martin and 433. If we keep Hughesy as well we could have a great season - proud of the effort last night and looking forward to what the summer will bring for DCFC. dcfcfan1
Its not like you can attribute this seasons failure to hughes or bryson- they missed most of this season
McRamFan
What really happened is that we lost Bryson and Hughes right at the start of the season, just as Thorne was returning. We went out and bought replacements and cover. Takes time for a side to settle and what we achieved was what was expected, if we got promoted we would not have survived. PistoldPete2
Last night showed that we are not very far from a winning squad. A few tweaks here and there. I still think a change of manager wil be needed because , admittedly with hindsight, it seems that we played to hulls strengths on Saturday. We needed direct runner like weimann who also unsettled them in the league game at the KC. Walsall deserves credit tho for his team selections last night and for his ability to motivate a team that could have folded after Saturday. Last night wasn't that brilliant in the scheme of things, we just kept the ball.

Boycie
Mate, just think about the positives, the passion, the spirit. ok we didn't get it into extra time, but there is something there. Let's hope we can get a good man motivator to bring this out of the team more often. Feeling down about the overall result is fine, but at least they didn't give up and roll over. Yes, they should have done it on Saturday etc, but mate, that's football. After a disappointing second half of the season in regards to us being top at Xmas, and then the first leg performance, that performance last night restored manys faith in the squad. Maybe it didn't come through on the sky cameras last night, but I was near the front, and you could see the sheer determination in the players eyes, they were really up for it and focusd. As I say, let's get the right man in charge and go again next season. Nobody makes you watch Derby, it's either in your DNA or it's not. COME ON YOU RAAAAAAAMS! Ewe Ram
I'm not gutted or anything. Minimum requirement for the season was the play offs and we achieved it despite a chaotic season of injuries, over spending, rookie managers (2 of) and not doing the double over forest. I want to go up automatically with a strong squad and a manager who we believe will do well in the Prem. We don't have either of those things today so let's hope we do next season. I'll be there to see it and also see us beat both Forest and now Burton home and away.

Defence is not the problem, yes they will make mistakes but so does most defences.

WharfedaleRam
We are starting to sound like we have a right to be successful, a bit like Newcastle. The fact is we have had three decent seasons in a row, where we won more than we lost, crowds went up, we jeered, we cried, we moaned (boy, how we moaned) about owners, managers, players, effort, tactics, formations, defences, strikers, injuries and yet still, deep down, we know we'll all be there cheering on our beloved Rams, irrespective of who our manager is and who is pulling on a white shirt next season. Surely our ambition is automatics so we want top 2 defence...therefore it needs improving.
