ram1964
With all the speculation on Martinez at Everton,And No confirmation of a permenant appointment for us. Have we got the clout to poach him. Would you think he would be a good appointment. Ive always thought he was a decent manager, did very well at Wigan, and dispite Evertons inconsistency through out the season dont personally believe many managers could do much better. G-Ram
He did really well a Wigan... He got them relegated, and had a freak run in a FA cup thats it. They Played nobody at all apart from everton in a quarter final but played millwall in the semi i think he's so overrated as a manager. If lukaku, barkley and stones are so good why are Everton where they are? In six months He's managed to turn stones from the next best thing to a pub team player i think he's a terrible manager id be annoyed if he came here. On recent results the wass & arry combo would be a miles better option

Guest
Keogh will be having nightmares at the very thought, Shacks will retire with a bad back rather than be coached by Martinez. I do agree he will be available very very soon
Ramarena
He was actually very good at Swansea, had them playing some lovely stuff in League 1 whilst winning the league at a canter, then miss out on the play-offs in the Championship by a point, the following season. Not sure what's happened to him since, but it's not worked out particularly well for him and he's not done himself any favours at times. That said Everton is a bit of a poison chalice, a bit like Newcastle. Shame his early potential seems to have disappeared.

They are reasonably well run and under Moyes they rarely ever finished below 7th. Now Martinez has one of Everton's best Premier league teams and is massively underachieving. needles
No. Soft centre to all his teams. All that quality at Everton should have them challenging top 4 this season. Also, prejudiced against anyone from Wigan after, you know, that last one we had from there. Shudder.

MuespachRam
Crap manager. Turned stones into a donkey. Managed to get an Everton team that should easily be challenging for the top 4 into the failure they are this season, mainly because he has absolutely no idea how to organise a defence. Also, he has turned into the new Wenger in regards to the press and referees, he never sees anything that happens on the pitch and never ever accepts that they aren't good enough just regularly blames someone (usually the ref) for his teams failures Dont want him anywhere near our club, he will struggle to get a decent job when Everton sack him think we will see him popping up as a pundit more and more. Alway's in the shadow of Liverpool, often wanting more than they are capable of/can afford, alway's the bridesmaid. They haven't won a trophy for just over 20 years, despite regular top 10 finishes. Your second point isn't in dispute, as I mentioned in my post, he's not done himself any favours.
ram1964
Personally thought he would have risen to the challenge at Derby, has good experience of the premiership hasnt flunked any where and although not set Everton alight Who has?

A poison chalice club is one that hounds you out for not achieving what they want even though its nigh un-achievable, Moyes achieved next to nothing at Everton but stayed for... 11 years? Many would say Martinez has been given far too long already. Probably the best chance a manager has of coaching in the premier league and being given time. t'oldu
Everton have had/got a lot of injuries............... but new owner will want his own manager even If they do win the Cup..
EssendonRam
If we'd achieved that under Gregory (remember they were appointed a week or two apart), would that have been considered "next to nothing"? Just staying competitive season after season in the Prem is an achievement. A major one; one that caught up even with TBE. Regular top 10 finishes are an achievement. I realise everyone sees Moyes' negative tactics as a major detraction but, let's face it, that's how middling clubs remain a fixture in the Premiership. Fester aside, that's how you consolidate sufficiently to eventually be able to sustain a challenge. I have no idea whether Moyes is considering/would consider Derby but, if he did, I'd be chuffed beyond belief. As for Martinez, just as Moyes accepted the poison chalice in succeeding SAF at United, Martinez copped the same in succeeding Moyes at Everton. (Come to think of it: we have no chance of attracting Moyes. He's already made the mistake of succeeding SAF at United. He's not stupid; he won't repeat his mistake and succeed Derby's SAF as well.) Martinez would be worth a shot, I'd have thought.
RadioactiveWaste
I think it's plausible and might work well, but not really convinced. Would be the end of defensive solidity but we'd look pretty.

Both Mac and Mel slightly humbled, recognising how they let the club turn into a p15sing contest. But, realistically, they can't. And won't. More my point is that so many keep harking back to that style (and it was beautiful to watch when it was working) but it was unsustainable as it stood. As boring (read 'safe') as Euro-football can be at times, it is what generally breeds success in the Prem. That's why I, for one, prefer watching the average Championship game viz the average Premiership game (Derby and Fester excepted). We can't have it both ways. If you want Derby to play pretty football, we need to stay in the upper echelon of the Championship. End of...
