eddie
After a long stopover in Hawaii (hands up all those who wouldn't have minded a holiday there since last August), Solar Impulse 2 yesterday continued its epic journey flying around the world by solar power alone. They are currently around a quarter of the way between Hawaii and mainland USA, and all looks well. http://www.solarimpulse.com/widget-aircraft
jono
Love this sort of thing .. Adventure inspires technlogy. How long before we have solar cells in the bodywork of cars that have sufficient charging capacity to make electric cars really work ?

The Nissan Leaf has a small panel at the back which (given a sunny day) can run some of the cars' gizmos without draining the battery. Problem with wanting it to charge the battery is you have such a limited space with which to work, then the extra weight of the panels, for something which in our climes would be of use about half the time. jono
I know Animal but we have come a long way. My Great Grandad had his horses sequestered by the Army in 1914 .. He used them to pull a delivery wagon. His only option was to buy a ford Model T truck. .. A lot can happen in the next 25 years with battery technology. It's going to be very interesting
