Playoff expectations

After the fairly turbulent season we've had and at one point it looking like we could struggle to make the playoffs, with three games to go and a new found confidence it's guaranteed.

So now we're in, what are your expectations? For me with everything that's gone on with PC, poor performances at stages of the season and after the Cardif game it looking like we could slide out Im just happy we're part of it, I'm going to enjoy it and if we went out fighting over two legs at the semi final stage so be it. But a part of me thinks now were not expected to go up like we was two seasons ago that we might just do it. Come on you Rams!

During the back end of Clements tenure I honestly thought we would slip out the playoffs so I am just happy we have something extra to look forward to.

if we make a go of it and lose say 3-2 on aggregate in the semis against any team I will be happy.

So long as it isn't like the Preston game where we just rolled over, it will be a bonus.

The playoffs are a lottery, your star player could get sent off or injured in the first minute of the first game, anything could happen.

I'd be hacked off but not surprised if we were to lose to either Burnley or Brighton in the semis.

I'd be hacked off and disappointed if we were to lose to Hull or Weds in the semis.

I'd be inconsolable to lose to anybody in the final.

I'd have a bigger party than Jamie Vardy, and let Shackell shag me Mrs if we won them!!!

A couple of weeks ago I didn't want us to stumble into the playoffs - prolong the pain when we ineviatbly lose.

Now of course things are slightly different and we could go into them riding a crest of great form. I'm still nervous about another Wembley outing - last time was just so awful, made worse by the coach getting stuck in the coach park for an hour and a half, then awful journey back to Derby and an hour drive home. Still don't want to go through that again.

I'd expect to put in 2 good performances in the semis. Hard to say whether I expect to win the semi. If we get to the final, I expect us to score some goals. Again, result in the air.

My expectations are once again of chewed fingernails and a general visible aging during each 90 mins of the two semi finals plus a worsening of this process should we make it to Wembley.

I detest the damn things and think they are just a money making exercise. Unfair too. You come third over a season and don't get promoted!!! Gahhhhhh.... Horrid horrid things. I don't enjoy them one iota.

We're certainly not going to come third this season though :p

Imagine how much crucifixion of MM would be taking place if there were no play-offs and 3rd place was the minimum req.

Its different to last time we made them.. last time other clubs were doing everything to avoid us, they dreaded playing us and we were expected to go up, esp after the Brighton games..

this time we're coming into form but under the radar somewhat, we wont be favorites and that will play into our hands I believe, Brighton, Boro or Burnley will be favs and hull might even be above us in the betting, more people expect us to lose this time around which is good imo.

It's likely that we will finish 4th or 5th (written before the Sheff W result, of course!) and I assume the format is the same as previous - 4th plays 5th and 3rd plays 6th?

So, with that expectation it's clearly most likely that we will play either Hull or Sheff W in the Semis.

Neither opposition should make us quiver....

Apologies if this has been cited elsewhere - but what are the play-off fixture dates? The Football League website (as usual) seems to be lacking the ability to publish them; the DCFC website doesn't promote them.

Any update appreciated

I've never liked them or thought they were fair. It goes back to that awful end of Season game v Swindon and what we went through. Our game finished and we are 2nd and Up..just waiting for confirmation of Boros draw with Wolves from the many transistor radios... Jeez how that hurt. I'd say for myself one of the worst feelings ever as a Derby supporter. Then the mugging by Speedie and co in the playoffs... Just horrid.

Christ that day hurt.  Coming out the ground was the worst.  Rams fans were deadly silent due to the result and 95% of the QPR fans were silent through a combination of respect & embarrassment.  Of course, by the time we'd reached the tube station the knuckle-draggers were hanging over the bridge giving it the big-un.  C***s!!!

I seem to be in a minority here but if we are going to lose, I'd much rather it be at Wembley in the final, having therefore enjoyed winning the semis and having had a great day out at Wembley for my pain. Losing in the semis would be a massive anti-climax.

Edit: It's a moot point, as we're nailed on to win them anyway.
