Think we should play our strongest XI until the last game of the season, just like we did 2 seasons ago.

And Billy Davies' Preston did this against us, fielded a weakened team, lost the game to us, conceded the home leg first, but they still beat us over the 2 legs.

I can imagine the 3-6th being settled before the end of the season so when hull derby and wednesday rest some players on the final day..... Brighton and Boro and Burnley will have full strength XIs out trying to secure top 2. Whoever comes 3rd will probably then be knackered and heads down for the playoff campaign they werent banking on.

Securing Fourth place is the target. I agree with what you say jagerbob

Potential banana skin this one. Change of manager to the much-travelled, ex-Ram loanee, Lee Johnson, son of Gary Johnson.

Started his managerial career three years ago at the age of 31! Highly thought of. Likes a brand of fast, high-tempo, expansive football.

The Derby way?

Johnson in.

What are his odds?

Fascinating bloke. Just read about him on Wikipedia. Definitely his own man.

Did miracles at Barnsley this season. They'd had a terrible run in the league, plagued by injuries, but had his belief in the team. Took them from 22nd to 5th/6th in a couple of months.

Credit to Barnsley, they allowed him to speak to Bristol City, even though he was much admired by the club and supporters atBarnsley.

I think Britol City have got a bit of a gem, but time will tell.

Tough one this. In half decent home form and fighting for their lives

Walk away with 3 points from this and the beliebers will be out in force.

I'd say this part is a bit of an exaggeration. Four games to go, they're 17th and 10 points clear. They're safe.

We can secure play-offs with a win, they can secure safety with a win. Should be a good game.

Fourth placers usually end up promoted. I've noticed that!

Great observation by JB.

Stats!

Last 10 years in reverse:

Norwich, 3rd

QPR, 4th

Crystal Palace, 5th

West Ham, 3rd

Swansea, 3rd

Blackpool, 6th

Burnley, 5th

Hull, 3rd

Derby, 3rd

Watford, 3rd

3rd: 6 - 4th: 1 - 5th: 2 - 6th: 1

Think you're getting hung up on QPR's win over us to be honest :p 3rd place is the more likely winner by history.

I think he might make a great manager.

Since I have noticed many of the best managers were really crap players.

I think Johnson falls into this category.

He's come across very well on the occasions I've heard him speak.

They're independently minded the folk of Bristol. Mel might not be up for too much of that ☺

From what I've heard from the Barnsley fans I've spoken to, they weren't too fussed that he left, put their position more down to the players than the manager.

He must be doing something right at Bristol though - that or Cotterill is worse than everyone thinks!
