Wednesday thread not up yet boo Eddie out @eddie ;)

Give us a chance. I've only just got home from work. Give us a couple of hours to prepare something suitable.

There's been a recognition from players and management that the ball-possession % is irrelevant: it's constructive, decisive play and prompt accurate passing that beats 'busy' opponents and wins games.

The return of Bryson and good form of Russell (and Ince waking up!) are critical to our progress.

At last! No more tedious multi-passing stints between defenders.

The penny has dropped....find Martin, find the wide men, release the ball early and don't play what I regard as 'passive passing' - posing with turgid 'keep-ball' while getting nowhere near the opposition danger area!

Simple game, football....pass, move, receive, score!

C O Y R

Agree with all this except Ince. I just don't know why some see him as a prima donna or luxury or moody .. There have been odd games where he hasn't been on fire but the lad isn't just talented, he is a worker too. If he makes a mistake he tries to put it right, he tracks back he works B hard for 90 mins and has done it consistently. Yes from time to time he might try to be a bit too solo with his mazy runs but for me he is one of the most wide awake players we have. He has missed having energy in midfield from the "sit too deep era" but I think he is our sparkling diamond. And with Butterfield developing and Hughesy coming back he's going to have some like minds to work with .. And that is taking nothing away for the engine room of  Bryson and Thorne.

A full fan, who believed we'd get something at Brizzle, would have prepared his next intro in advance!

Very poor, do we need to bring someone in to help you?

Well, I was still booing after we conceded two, and that stopped me from concentrating on my duties.

Has Arry got a spare dog?

Still buzzing from last night after a great day in Bristol. We got there very early and enjoyed a walk along the river and round the quayside in warm spring sunshine. Parked up at Bedminster CC, thanks for the tip on this - friendly fans of both teams -  for a pre-match drink.

The Bristol City ground is starting to look good and there will be a great atmosphere next season when the fourth stand is open, providing the fans turn up. Someone commented on how quiet their fans were last night but they seemed very nervous of playing us before the game, which is strange when you consider some of their other home results. Maybe the 4-0 at our place was a factor?

Onto the game. We played some good football first half after their first few minutes' pressure and took control of the game without producing a final ball of quality. There were some danger signs though with us giving the ball away, mainly due to their pressing and quicker reactions. However we scored at the right time - another great header from the smallest guy on the pitch - and I thought 'game over'. That's all I had time to think as Bristol's reaction was immediate and of great quality as their pressing play and pace forced the equaliser and lead within minutes. We were a bit stunned going into half time and the players looked to be so too as they trudged off beneath our stand for the break.

Credit to the coaching team for their half time talk as the players came out transformed and got stuck into Bristol with swift passing moves that were a joy to watch. We thoroughly deserved our two goals and there could have been more. The Derby fans regained their voice and we sung our support for the rest of the game as Derby defended their lead with passion. Bristol didn't really look like scoring again as we ran them down and tackled well.

It was especially good to see the spirit in the team last night and difficult to pick out individual players but Thorne was excellent in the second half after a shaky start (he seems to need time to get into the pace of games recently - maybe he needs a practice half before each game?) Bryson, Russell,  Martin, Olsson, Christie all great going forward, Shackell and Keogh resolute in defence second half.

For my MOM I would have to pick Ince as he was the most creative player in our side in both halves. I don't know what Wassall has said to our Tom since he took over but it is working with joy - he now has a  confidence he lacked for half a season and seemingly a real pride in playing in a Derby shirt. Long may it continue.

After the game we came away from the CC car park with no delays and straight back onto a quiet motorway so were back home in decent time.

Overall a great day out. I said before the match to one of the Bristol supporters that the result depended on which team turned up - bad Derby or good Derby. We saw a bit of both last night but good Derby won and I am increasingly confident that they will continue to do so. Can't wait for the playoffs!

Did the Minster enjoy it? and did you bowl any googlies?
