Ashton Gate, 7.45 pm kickoff

As Oscar Wilde once said,

"There is only one thing in the world worse than starting match threads - and that is NOT starting match threads." Either way, I hope that I'm still performing this chore come the first match of next season.

Derby go into this game on the back of three successive victories and with The Rams firmly secure in a playoff position. Not certain of being in possession of a ticket for that particular lottery just yet, another three points would make it all but a mathematical certainty irrespective of anything Cardiff City do.

The last time the two sides met was at the iPro in December, and the home side were victorious by a thumping 4-0 margin. Derby have, by and large, enjoyed the better of the encounters between the two sides winning 35 times and only being on the receiving end of things on 17 occasions, and recent history is just as emphatic an indicator towards a victory to the visitors, but this is The Championship, a league where everyone seems to be able to beat everyone else.

The Ashton Gate Stadium has been home to Bristol City for 111 years, and is currently undergoing a major overhaul which will eventually increase its capacity from its current 16600 to 27000 from the start of next season when it is hoped that they will be in a division below us. The ground is shared by Bristol Rugby Club, and has a near neighbour that will be familiar to fans of Only Fools And Horses - the building that was used as Nelson Mandela House in the series is actually a block of flats called Whitemead House, and is less than 200 yards from the ground.

So, in keeping with the series, and with my (and Mel's) optimistic hat firmly in place, I shall leave you with this little snippet...

Make it so, Rams fans.

Whatever shape we played at home was against a BCFC weakened team as Cotterill had his eye o n the next game.  As I remember we were poor for an hour, one up thanks to an Ince solo effort and we bought on Thorne? with half an hour to go, then they folded and we ran in 3 more.

Suggest we stick to what is currently working, but would love to see Will H given a start, all part of getting him match fit for the play offs

Potential banana skin this one. Change of manager to the much-travelled, ex-Ram loanee, Lee Johnson, son of Gary Johnson.

Started his managerial career three years ago at the age of 31! Highly thought of. Likes a brand of fast, high-tempo, expansive football.

The Derby way?
