The run in... 9 to play

I've just had a real look at our run in for the first time and it really hasn't filled me with any confidence...

Forest (H) - after Saturday you'd assume the confidence is shot. And as we know, anything can happen in a derby game...

Cardiff (A) and Hull (H).. Two of the top 8, Cardiff are the most in form side out of the chasing play off pack and Hull was always going to be a tricky game, with their own agenda still very much on the table

Then a block of on paper "winnable games".... Bolton (H), Charlton (A) and Bristol City (A).. But, I'd rather be playing midtable sides with 6, 5 and 4 games to play, than sides scrapping for every point to regain their status for next season..

Then the final block of 3, which really worries me. Wednesday (H), Brighton (A) and Ipswich (H). All sides very much in our pack and all 3 in better form than us. Who knows what the table will be in 6 games time, but all 3 will be tough.. Ipswich on the last day could be so huge..

Its obviously in our hands, with the sides we're playing and our position, but that really is a tough run in, and worse than I thought it was before looking at the table.

forget it - we are pants - god knows how we are fifth..

Only Burnley any good - showing any form - rest of the teams are really quite average. - anyone who can now string 3/4 wins together could make it

as for the play offs

some bang average team might win it......one with a manager lol!!!!!

can take nothing for granted these days, as we saw today Middlesborough losing comfortably at Charlton. Going to go to the wire I think and hopefully DW and the lads can turn this ship around and see us into the top 6 at the very least. When you consider how poor we've been that we're still 5th and in with a shout of even automatics you have to think anything is still possible, wouldn't surprise me to see a different top 2 come the final day! Now is the time the lads need us the most, irrespective of what happened yesterday or in the last month or so - our season starts here! Whether we like it or not barring something drastic it would seem Wassall is here to stay so get ******* used to it and get behind him and the boys. Quit complaining and moaning and get a grip and realise we're very much still in this. Remember when everyone said Boro were infallible and would run away with the league? Now look nothing is ever certain in football, in this league especially so who knows what can happen - COYR!!!!

QPR, inconsistent all season, flirted with the top 2 at the start of the season but fell away when it mattered, with a manager the majority of the fans disliked, and a squad full of overpaid mercenaries, with a power hungry owner....

Squeeze past Wigan in extra time in the semis and then beat a side who shall remain nameless in the last minute after being up against it for the whole game, with the scorer being an ex prolific premier league striker...

So there you have it, May 28th, Middlesborough 0-1 Derby Bent, 90' (Johnson sent off, 59th minute).

I still think we could do it as every other club bar Burnley are blowing it - Hull most likely to go clear for 2nd with a winning run..but all to play for Top 6 and play-offs..and you never know we could fluke a win and get to the Premier League.

We will be a different team next year as we will get a manager that knows what the job requires..

Do we still really have top 6 expectations after yesterday and with Wassall still likely to be in charge until the end of the season

I really hope forest will be the start of something, and if it is, it wouldnt suprise me.

No doubt all you angrys will disagree with me, but I personally think Wassall has got Martin and Ince playing well, which under PC neither of them did. We needed a reaction after QPR, and i thought we got it at Rotherham, aside from those crazy last 10 mins. If the side are as angry as they should be after the indescribable last 10 mins, then I can see them giving Forest a hammering. The side has shown it can score goals now, the question remains can Thorne play enough games, and can Derby develop some sort of backbone without the ball, can Christie and Olsson show some desire in their defending to stop the opposition, if we can somehow get the basics right, then I can see us going on a run, with the quality we are now starting to show.

Wassall reminds me of LVG at United he can make a team defend well but creates no chances at the other end or scores a load of goals but at the expense of the defence and concedes a bucket load too the challenge is not to get our attacker's playing well and concede a raft load of goals but to get the team operating as a cohesive unit

Wassall the wally will learn his lesson and stick to 4-3-3, those teams won't be looking forward to playing us IF we can continue producing that first 82 minutes at Rotherham.

I think we will make the play offs and nobody after Burnley should worry us.

Really?

Lets assume that Burnley will no falter and will take the title. Lets look at the chasing pack who now must consider 2nd spot as the next best option. M'boro= No manager, lost the most games out of top 5 teams still have 10 matches which includes Hull , Brighton and Ipswich at home also have Burnley and Birmingham Away. Hull City= only won 2 of their last 7, Manager being linked with Villa have 2 tough away games at Boro and Derby. Brighton= won the least away games with Sheff W in the top 6, still have Burnley and Derby at home and Birmingham and Boro to play away. Sheff W= also with bad away form have Ipswich, Cardiff at home and Derby away to play. Cardiff= in form team in chasing pack have Derby, Birmingham home and Burnley, Sheff W away to play. Ipswich= A small squad who can still have a say in play off places, Have Boro, Sheff W and Derby away to play. Birmingham= Another small squad club that could have a say in the play offs have Brighton, Burnley, Boro at home with Cardiff away to play. Please note I have only named the top 9 teams, because I believe they are the only teams that could get promotion. Who is your money on, I am not making a case for any team including the Rams. It just seems they are all failing to cement that 2nd spot.

Thanks for this synopsis Plymouth, most interesting and useful

It is quite remarkable that so many of the top 9 teams have up to half of their 9/10 remaining games against play-off rivals. Our current performances as opposed to recent results do not leave me convinced that we can prevail, but it is  obvious that there is going to be one hell of a shake-up in the upper reaches of the table EVERY week!

I think I will just sit back and (try to) enjoy the ride.....!
