Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie has been linked with a £1 million move to Championship rivals Derby County.

A national newspaper has reported that Rams boss Nigel Clough is on the trail of Mackie as a replacement for Kris Commons who is expected to leave Pride Park in January.

The reported £1 million fee for Mackie would represent a huge profit for the Pilgrims who snapped up the striker from non-league Exeter City for £145,000 in January 2008.

The 24-year old, who can also play as a winger, has notched up 11 goals from 73 appearances for Paul Sturrock's side.

Considering the transfer window doesn't open for another 2 months I wouldn't read much into this, Newspapers filling column space although fair play to em...at least it's a change from the Tyson rumour.

Yeah....

Funny how the Tyson rumour was pretty hot before the start of the season.... DEFINATELY NO CHANCE NOW! thats for sure

Lower than us in the league - 2nd from bottom.

Too much money.

An irreplaceable player who could sell for £3.

Not enough goals.

On the bright side Joe, just read this about him from one of the Green Army!:

"Well worth £1m- whilst he may not score a hatfull of goals, he is v pacey and chases everything all over the park and scares the sh7t out of opposing defences. Apart from anything else he lifts the crowd and team mates just by getting stuck in. Although £1m would be good business I would be gutted if he went for less than twice that. Having said all that, with the right coaching and service he may well score plently-he can certainly stike a football."

If what he says is true I'd rather have him than Commons. Although Commons is a technically gifted player he's far too slow and gets lost in alot of games. However Mackie seems the opposite, Loads of pace and passion, yet isn't the most gifted finisher but that can be worked on.
