Day
JAMES Vaughan's loan from Everton has been cancelled but the striker will return to Derby County on January 1. The 21-year-old is back at Everton recovering from a cartilage operation after suffering a knee injury only two games into his three-month loan spell with the Rams. Vaughan is only likely to be ready for action again in early December. The initial loan was due to expire on December 19 and Everton have offered the Rams a helping hand by agreeing to cancel the deal. "We have been fortunate in dealing with Everton on this because they have been extremely flexible and very helpful," said chairman of football Adam Pearson. "They have cancelled James' loan contract on October 1 instead of December 19, and it will be reactivated on January 1. "Obviously. for us to be able to come out of the loan without having to pay any money on it and therefore freeing a loan space up for another player while James gets fit is helpful. "It is a fantastic gesture from Everton who, as normal, have handled themselves in a professional way." Vaughan will return to Pride Park on a new three-month loan in January and the Rams could look to extend the deal to the end of the season. Derby now have four players in on loan – Jake Livermore, Paul Dickov, Fredrik Stoor and Bryan Hughes, who signed from Hull City on Thursday. They are keen to extend Stoor's stay from Fulham. The Swedish defender's final game is against Queens Park Rangers today. No more than five loan players are allowed to feature on the team sheet on match days. "At the minute, we have four and we certainly didn't want to run at more than two loans this season but with the injury situation as it is, we had to bring in two or three more loans than we would want," said Pearson. "But the lads who have come in have acquitted themselves well and the latest, Bryan Hughes, I'm sure will give us a bit of experience in midfield." Vaughan started the defeat by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and the home victory over Bristol City. He provided natural pace, something the team lacks. "James is very, very keen to come back here," said Pearson. "He enjoyed the experience and the manager saw enough of him in training to know exactly what type of lad he is and what his character is. "We think he is a good addition to the team." http://www.therams.co.uk/news/Vaughan-s-loan-cancelled-ll-return-Rams-January/article-1448598-detail/article.html

MattyTheRam
Hope he can net a few when he's back. Know he didnt play too long for us but even in the short time he looked dangerous going forward and even though he's not the tallest but still wins headers and looked decent with flickin' on the ball. Yeh but its all shoulds mate. The players who got injuries in the first place should have been back by now. But somethings not quite right and the players fitness is questionable at the least. Boycie
Your right, something is wrong with this set up. Even Clough admits all the players have never known a club to have as many injuries. Bad luck is one thing, bad practices are another.

vicky-27
James Vaughan Should Sign. For Derby According to a story that was doing the rounds last week, Gary Megson is preparing to outbid Derby County in order to land Everton perma-crock James Vaughan. Vaughan is a pacy striker with attacking threat when fit. A pity then that he`s rarely in a condition to make the starting line up. Sean Davis, Ricardo Vaz Te and Joey O`Brien are long term casualties and Ricardo Gardner, Johan Elmander and Mark Davies make frequent visits to the physio`s room. It makes little sense to pursue Vaughan, unless the Whites are preparing to launch an assault on the World record for fitting as many players as possible onto a treatment table. Frankie Vaughan would be a better signing. As would Stevie Ray Vaughan. Both those gentleman perished some time ago, but they`re in only a slightly worse state of health than young James, and there won`t be a £3 million price tag attached. Anyone who needs to Google 'Stevie Ray Vaughan` is a wuss. We best sign him up then
Boycie
Dunna worry m'lady, our treatment room is getting a little less hectic. Take a ticket Vaughan and wait in the room outside.
