Is automatic promotion beyond us?

We have played 27 games so far and got 49 pts - that is 1.8 pts per game.

We have 19 games left to play and going on the first half season form of 1.8 pts per game it does mean we would end up with -

Played 46 gained 84 pts.

Do you think 84 pts be enough for top 2?

Alternatively we really need to improve our performances and results to better 1.8pts per game from the remaining 19 games, are we capable of doing this?

I have just done Hull and Boro's pts per game ratios.

Boro have gained 2.03 pts per game and would end up with 94 pts

Hull have gained 2pts per game and would end up with 92 pts

So we do need to improve quiet a bit to get into the automatic spots, it is still in our grasps to do so and we still have the players capable of winning more games then we currently have been.

It is now down to Paul Clement to see if he is the real deal?

No probs......if only we had Toddy at number 6!

This is the toughest division to claw your way up from. Teams get promoted with 75 points some years, some teams fail to do so with 8 points more.

We can't play a numbers game as too many teams are chasing  the top two spots.

No, automatic promotion is definitely not beyond us but, remember last season, neither is a finish outside the top quorum!

Going on the stats, we need to win a least 3 extra games than the previous half of the season.

Why not start with a win at Burnley and not forgetting we have Hull at home, so there's 2 - hey we nearly there already....

Of course their points average per game is better than ours seeing as they have more points from an equal or in Boros case, less amount of games. So its a redundant debate because at Christmas our points average was better than Hulls but you wouldn't have argued that automatic promotion was beyond us then...yes its going to require a turnaround in form but don't forget we are in a blip which Hull have had and Boro look to be having after losing twice in a row.

Of course it's possible a team from outside the top four or five could do it .Will Derby? I have grave doubts but happy to be wrong.

I'll let you know our chances after tomorrow's performance. We might just turn it round.

Which is worse-

1. A player being out long term with injury

2. The same player in the team being extremely ineffective and being deemed undroppable..

It depends how use utilise the player.

1. The team is built around one player in great form losing him derailed the season

2. You build a 'new' team who have no idea how to use their key goalscorer and leave him exposed up top on his own all the time before hoofing it.
