Derby County are close to finalising a deal with Oxford United for winger Callum O'Dowda, HITC Sport understands.

HITC Sport understands that the two clubs are in talks and a deal is set to be confirmed in the coming days, with Derby keen to get the deal done before any rival bids can come in.

As part of the deal, Derby are understood to have agreed to let O'Dowda remain with Oxford for the rest of the season before joining The Rams in the summer.

According to his forum he doesn't even start every game for them, although they think he should. Not sure what stage he's at in his development if he's not a regular starter in League Two.

They also compared him to other 'big' transfers out of League Two and don't reckon the fee would be any more than 750k

I'm guna place a rival bid right now just to spite derby. This is getting far too easy for mel and co.

Just watched his youtube highlights for last season. Obviously justhighlights and the usual caveats, but even still, what a prospect!!

Looks ahead of Bennett, Calero, Santos.

Can't help but think we'll see more outgoing loans now.

Seen him play once this season. Very fast, very skillful, willing to take a man on, and dribbles well (so do I after several pints). Quite an exciting prospect but not sure he would ever make the first team any time soonish. Needs to go on loan to a League 1 team
