David
Derby County Manager Nigel Clough has today (Saturday 26th September) increased the defensive options at his disposal by swooping to sign Swedish International defender Fredrik Stoor. The 25-year-old right-back has joined the Rams on loan from Premier League Fulham for an initial month, taking him up to and including the home game with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday 24 October. PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Fredrik (right) arrives at Pride Park lunch-time today. The defender has signed all the relevant documentation and could make his debut in today's Coca-Cola Championship game with Bristol City at Pride Park Stadium. Clough exclusively told [url=http://www.dcfc.co.uk/]dcfc.co.uk: "This is a terrific capture for us and I'd like to thank Roy Hodgson and everyone at Fulham for allowing us to take him on loan. "He is a defender of international quality, who will certainly improve our squad. "The paperwork has been completed in time so he can play for us today against Bristol City, but we will make that decision closer to kick off. "The player only arrived in Derby last night and hasn't met any of his team mates yet. "However, having played at the highest level, we would have no concerns about his temperament if we have to use him at some point today." Stockholm-born Stoor began his career with Hammarby in Sweden's top-flight before joining Norwegian side Rosenborg in 2006, a side he represented in the UEFA Champions League during the 2007/08 season. His impressive displays were rewarded with a call-up to the Sweden national side whilst with Rosenborg and he appeared in all three of Sweden's matches during Euro 2008. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson brought Stoor to England a few weeks after the conclusion of Euro 2008, where he has acted mainly as a squad player covering for the impressive Fulham defence that secured a top-seven spot in the Premier League last season. Stoor played the full 120 minutes of Fulham's Carling Cup exit at the hands of big-spenders Manchester City on Wednesday, his first appearance of the campaign. derbydan
Derby County are hoping to extend the loan of Fredrik Stoor from Fulham this week. The 25-year-old Swedish International right-back joined the Rams on loan from the Premier League side last month and his initial month's loan expired over the weekend. He has made four appearances in Derby colours and Manager Nigel Clough revealed after the defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday that he hopes to extend the loan ahead of Saturday's visit to Ipswich Town. David
SWEDISH defender Fredrik Stoor is to stay on loan with Derby County for another two months. The 25-year-old right-back's initial one-month loan from Fulham was up after the weekend defeat by Queen's Park Rangers. Fulham have agreed for him to remain with the Rams until December 27 but the Premier League club has a 24-hour recall clause. Stoor was also keen to stay. "It is a compliment that Freddie wants to stay. He is enjoying it here and he wants to play games," said manager Nigel Clough. "I think he has got better with each game and losing him on Saturday in the second half was a big blow." Stoor's eye closed completely after he suffered a knock against Rangers but he has trained this week and should be fit to face Ipswich Town on Saturday. Stoor's loan can only run for a maximum of 93 days and he has already spent a month with the Rams. http://www.therams.co.uk/news/Defender-Stoor-s-Rams-loan-extended-months/article-1458884-detail/article.html
