SaintRam
I've seen this happen a few times over the years. It's guess it's the "right thing" to do but I'm still torn on whether I'd want Derby to allow the opponent to score in this situation. He wasn't attempting to score so it's surely the GK's fault? Bris Vegas
Seemed the only way Bury were going to score! How many chances did they have? Could have been an absolute thrashing with a bit of prolificacy in front of goal.
davenportram
I think the Donnie fans booing need to think how'd they would have felt on the other way round. mind you the wolves (I think) who scored with his hand told his team mates it was hand ball and then they did nothing. He should be given a retrospective punishment for unsporting like conduct.
Tombo
I think they did the right thing letting them go up and score. Not sure it was the keepers fault, wasn't anyones fault, it just dipped over him accidentally.
Sith Happens
remember this nearly happening to us, think it was reading, we kicked it out for an injury to one of theirs, they looped it up and it almost did the same, bounced off the bar.its a stupid rule anyway, ref should stop the game if there is an injury. AndyinLiverpool
What if one of these teams gets promoted or avoids relegation on goals scored?

Maybe it would be better if that happened that the throw in is thrown straight to the opposition instead of being passed to the keeper.

davenportram
if the ref hasn't seen fit to stop the game, play on. yep that's the rule but as I said some players kick it out anyway. Usually when the ref has not seen how severe an injury has been - ie Barkers against Forest.
SaintRam
If the ref saw fit he used to a traditional drop ball under these circumstances. No idea why that stopped. I don't like this "force someone to be sporting and then clap the players like they did it because they wanted to" lark.Kicking the ball out of play is sporting, doing so knowing that you're going to get the ball back is not (especially if it's your player down). Used to be kicking the ball out of play meant you knew you were giving it to the opposition and if they were grateful they gave it you back. I don't like all this enforced niceness. If a player/team want to be arses then let them be, adds to the character of the sport.Keogh telling the ref that Spearing didn't dive is proper sporting behavior but the refs don't listen to the players because usually players are tossers. TigerTedd
Doesn't this have ramifications in betting? And what if that bury number 9 ends up with a golden boot by one goal?and why was the goal keeper being s bit of a tossed about it, trying to take the ball off the striker? And why were the bury players all hassling the Ronnie player like he meant it? I would have not been sporting just because of that.

RamNut
Keogh telling the ref that Spearing didn't dive is proper sporting behavior......must have been a penalty then? p.s. There's no way i'd want my team to stand there whilst the other side walk it into the net.

Of course the opposition are going to be suspicious when he "over hits" what is meant to be a pass back by a good 10 yards.Fair play to Doncaster though because they proved it was a genuine error by allowing the equaliser. It looked to me like the Donny players who feigned to go for the ball were just joking around. The Bury number 9 is Leon Clarke. I think we can discount your fears about him winning the golden boot. Kernow
Speaking of sportsmanship, fair play to Richard Keogh for protesting the decision to send Spearing off for the dive. It didn't seem like one, the lad was unlucky.

There's not enough minutes in the game for him to go on two "runs"If there were more strikers like Clarke about then Kenny Burns would still be fit enough to play CB
