James Vaughan - Everton

Skysports.com understands Newcastle and Derby have joined the chase for Everton forward James Vaughan.

Toffees boss David Moyes has confirmed the club are willing to loan out Vaughan so that he can work on his fitness and get regular first-team action under his belt.

Middlesbrough were thought to be leading the hunt for Vaughan, but now Championship rivals Newcastle and Derby have made their interest known.

The Magpies are in the market for striking reinforcements after losing Shola Ameobi to injury and have been linked with the likes of Diomansy Kamara and Marlon Harewood.

Derby are keen to bring Vaughan to Pride Park as they look to end their poor run of form and Rams boss Nigel Clough believes a new striker will give his side a fresh impetus.

Everton are expected to evaluate all the offers for Vaughan before deciding where is best to loan out the England Under-21 international.

You little beauty Cloughie!!!!! kin ell thought this was going to be another crappy rumour, just hope we can extend it till the end of the season, Hulse, Porter, Commons and Vaughan will give us plenty of options.

Seen him play a few times and looked quite a decent player, been dogged by injuries tho, hopefully he can put that behind him and stick a few away for us.

Now send that bag of ***** Scottish dwarf back to Leicester! I'l come down on me pushbike and take him myself if need be.

Derby County have moved to strengthen their strikeforce today with the signing of James Vaughan, beating off strong competition from a number of their Championship rivals.

The 21-year-old Everton striker has put pen-to-paper on a loan deal from the Goodison Park side until the start of January 2010 is eligible to make his debut in Saturday's Coca-Cola Championship match at Crystal Palace.

The England U21 International - who has also represented England at U17 and U19 level - progressed through the youth system at Everton and signed professional terms in 2005.

Vaughan, renowned for his pace and ability to get in behind defences, has made one appearance for Everton so far this term in the Europa League.

With Steven Davies currently sidelined with a leg injury and Chris Porter ruled out until December, Manager Nigel Clough has had limited options to choose from in attack so far this term.

He believes the addition of Vaughan provides an extra dimension to the Rams' frontline.

"This is a terrific bit of business for us; James is a good player with an excellent attitude and tons of ability," Clough told [url=http://www.dcfc.co.uk/]dcfc.co.uk.

"He is also different to anything else we have at the football club at this moment, so will add some variety to our attack.

"He is strong, quick and brave and knows how to look after himself on the pitch.

"We are grateful to David Moyes, Bill Kenwright and Everton for allowing him to come here; I think they know we do things properly and will take good care of him.

"There were a number of other club's in our division interested in James, so it is a big boost for us and Derby County in general that he has decided to come here."

He scored on his Everton debut against Crystal Palace in 2005, making him Everton's youngest-ever scorer at 16 years and 400 days. He also holds the record for being the Premier League's youngest goalscorer.

Vaughan has made 49 appearances for the Toffees.

I'm a massive Everton fan and Derby have always been my 2nd team (since the days of Todd making me feel like a reet auld bast!

Anyway, Vaughany I've watched develop from the age of 16 when he became the youngest scorer in the history of Everton (beating a certain Shrek look-a-like).

If he can stay injury free he is an amazing prospect, bags of explosive pace and an eye for goal (bit of a fox in the box). Plays well off a big man but happy in a 5-4-1. With Jo, Saha and Yakubu all fit right now he would've struggled for a kick.

The key though is can he stay fit? He could score for fun in the Championship with all due respect and we might be getting back a more complete player like when Osman played at Derby a few years back.

Hope it works out for him and you lot, Derby are due back in the Prem for another shot at it.
