sage
First of all they approached him in the summer and he turned them down. If he turned them down, they must have been given permission to speak to him by the club. Compensation would have been discussed if not agreed.Derby haven't gone up, which would have been McClaren's ticket to the Premier League.McClaren didn't give a clear denial or a clear commitment. This suggested something was happening or potentially happening. The rumours regarding Clement are coming from Spain and England. Reports of him going to Moor Farm and of Rush going to Madrid 3 weeks ago. However the most compelling piece of evidence almost slipped us by in terms of it's consequence and importance. Newcastle approached McClaren to take over for the last 3 games of the season. He said no.Lets think about this. They asked a manager from another club with 2 years left on his contract to take charge for 3 games. Have you ever heard anything like this? Is he allowed to manage 2 clubs at once? This at the very least suggests a clear and established line of communication between Newcastle and McClaren. The audacity of this approach surely means one of the following thingsa) He is going this summer now Derby aren't going upb) He is going this summer if they stay upc) He is going as soon as we have a replacementord) He is going if things don't go his way re budgets and contracts this summer Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/19037-why-i-still-think-steve-mac-is-going-to-newcastle-probably/ Share on other sites

DEL
Derby don't have a manager and Steve rejected Toon because he want to take us up and that's his job to finish it off. What if Toon get relegated???? matty1
Personally I'm blaming those damned Wonga puppets.Ashley's evil emmissaries, I suspect they've been flirting with Steve for months now. He's finally been seduced by their persistent offerings of short term cash on a sliding scale of repayment giving him total flexibility and control.......bas....turds!Just a theory mind. i-Ram
I think he is going to Newcastle on the weekend, but probably wearing a half and half scarf. Newcastle v West Ham colours. He will end up at one of those, but will he ultimately face off with Ashley or the Barons after the match? I still think he will be blowing bubbles, but perhaps I am still thinking about as I type this.
