Kernow
Patrick Bamford just named FL player of the year.He beat Murphy of Ipswich and Deeney of Watford to the award. Is it just me or would any of you not named any of these three in the top 3 players in the league this year? It's not all about scoring goals, I feel there are more deserving winners than those three.Any way, well done to Bamford, I guess. Still not getting in at Chelsea though. RamFan13
Deeney deserved it.
Kernow
Think he'll level out as a mid-low end PL striker. Regardless of this award, he didn't do enough with us for me to really want him back and even now I'd struggle to put him in to our first eleven. Brammie Steve
There are a lot of committed and loyal players in the Championship who make their teams enjoyable to watch.i would be reluctant to give a POTY award to any loan player as I think that it cheapens the value of the award itself and must be disheartening to a man who gives 100% week in, week out over 46 games for a team and a fan base to whom he gives his undivided loyalty. As good as Patrick undoubtedly is, he is on a Premiership team's books. Should he sign permanently for Middlesborough I would find it easier to accept that he is the FL POTY regardless of whether Boro go up or not.PS did Will Hughes disqualify himself by his number of bookings? Kernow
In my opinion he's not even their player of the year, let alone the Championship one.Leadbitter, Ayala or their keeper have all looked more valuable to Boro's season than Bamford has. That's all round contribution of course. The one advantage Bamford has it game winning talent, that's all.
DcFc Dyycheee
Well done to him. No real stand out players this season. Just been a lot of good players. If you would have said last season Bamford would be POTY for next season, I would have laughed. How many league goals has he even got? 14-15?Deeney and Murphy more worthy winners I'd say. The Scarlet Pimpernel
What's he done to deserve that? Scored same number of goals as Chris Martin.

Ambitious
Football league team of the decade That's an horrendous selection, on so so so many levels. When Gareth Bale was included, it was the biggest joke going. He hit a few free kicks and that was his name in the side. He deserves no more or less of a mention that Chris Gunter. Anyway, my attempt at this and I hope it's far more representative than that shower. GK: Macrus Hahnemann - he was almost unbeatable during Reading's record-breaking season. He conceded next to nothing. RB: Graham Alexander - A mainstay in a Preston defence that, for a few years, looked unbreakable. CB: Fab Coloccini - It was ridiculous he was even in the division anyway, but he was a class above. CB: Ashley Williams - One that did make the team. He was by far the biggest reason Swansea won promotion that year. Outstanding defender. LB: Nicky Shorey - Edges out Jose Enrique, for me. He was huge in their dominance on the Championship that season. RM: Adel Taarabt - He was unbelievable in QPR's promotion season. Without him, I doubt they would have made the play-offs. I've shoehorned him here. CM: Steve Sidwell - He was always outstanding at this level. In 'Arry fashion - terrific player. CM: Kevin Nolan - He scored how many goals? Like Coloccini, this level was just far too easy for him. First with Newcastle then again with West Ham. Huge in both promotions. LM: Peter Whittingham - another that's made the team and rightfully. He was outstanding for a few seasons at this level and was huge for Cardiff during their promotion season. I'm sure he was the top goalscorer in the division one season, too. ST: Ebanks-Blake - Top goalscorer two years in a row and had an unbelievable hit rate at this level before his injury. How he doesn't make the Team of the Decade just shows how small memory people actually have! ST: Rickie Lambert - He got an unbelievable amount of goals and assists when they won promotion. McCormack last season for Leeds was special, but Lambert edges ahead of him for me. Manager: Steve Coppell - easiest decision out of the lot! How on earth has Eddie Howe got ahead of him? The man built a record-breaking side on a shoestring. ----- On Bamford, it's obvious due to his Chelsea connection that he was always going to be looked at favourably. If Ibe had stayed here, he would have been our best chance despite not even being our best player. He's had a good season though, no one can argue that, I just can't help but think there is a couple of more deserving players.
rammie002
Maybe because I don't like him too much, but didn't think he deserves it. Wilson, Murphy, Deeney, Ighalo and Ritchie have all been far better. (Could probaby put leadbitter aheads of him)Dunno why Bamford got it, alot of players with more goals than him, and he's only had 2 assists all year.. hardly POTY worthy? Wouldn't even make the bench on my team of the year

cannable
@Ambitious; bare in mind it's the Football League Team of the Decade and not just the Championship. I think what they've tried to do is fit in players that have been top performers with one unbelievable season (Wittingham scored 24 goals in 09/10 and was quality for years and Rhodes who hit 40+ in League One in 11/12 and has scored 20+ a year for the last 6 seasons) or have been promoted from League One or Two and the Championship (Schmeichel, Morgan, Williams, Rangel, Lallana, Lambert, Hoolahan and Murray). Bale and Howe are the only inclusions that I can't really explain. In fact, when I saw Bale and did wonder if Barnes might have popped up!
Tombo
Bale is only there because of who he has become now, one would assume.

Mostyn6
Charlie Adam's season at Blackpool was immense. As was Koumas at WBA (maybe over a decade ago), and Dorrans during WBA's last promotion.
Anon
I'm pleased for Bamford. He said he wanted a more central role and has proved how effective he can be there by banging in the goals. The important thing is that even though he wanted to play centrally he didn't sulk about it last season when asked to play out wide for us. Is he arrogant? Yes, I'm not sure that's such a terrible thing. Maybe if some of our current players were further up their own arses they wouldn't have let the prussure of the run in effect them so badly. Rev
Congrats Patrick Bamford, well deserved, nice to see someone drag themselves out of the gutter, overcome life's disadvantages and against all odds hit the heights. Not easy being born a red dog I imagine, but he's done ok.
