Could Paul Simpson be lining up the be our next manager?

If the rumours that McClaren is going are to be believed believed then it  would not be too far fetched to expect Simmo to be wanting to have a go at getting the job.

I have noticed that he has been doing the pre match interviews more often and more recently being wearing a suit rather than his normal coaching gear. Is it beyond imagination that he could have requested McClaren that he could take on some further responsibilities in order to get himself in a good position to make a bid for the role?

If so, how would you feel about his appointment?

He's always done lots of interviews though.

Ive not seen him in a suit TBH.  But I don't think it means he's going to be a manager.

But I'd be ok with it.

I don't believe the Mirror or people that say they've been told by their mate that works in the club shop more than I believe Rush and a bloke sat in the dug out on match days.

If we are to have a new manager, and I still hope Mac has a pair of balls and sees this job through.  But if he does go I think Bart Simpson has as much chance of being our next manager as Paul. In fact if Simmo gets the job I will eat my shorts.

Of course Paul Simpson would be interested, who wouldn't want to manage a club like Derby. He will be doing everything he can to get considered for the role. However we need to focus on this season first including eveyone fans, players, managers and coaches. As soon as the season is over then we should start talking about what we are going to do.

Love simmo but if this appointment is made that says to me 1/2 seasons of midtable. Whereas you appoint dyche, for example, that tells me we will go for it.

I don't think Simmo has it to do it on his own. He did alright at Carlisle but other than that has had a pretty poor managerial career.

Should Mac leave I'd love Simmo & Steele to stay in their current roles though I expect they'd go.

If Mac leaves I would love Dyche to be our manager, regardless of what league we're in. I'm hoping Burnley go down for that reason. With a steadier defence we would have been in a much better position for promotion this season and Dyche will definitely tighten that up. Even if he has a PL relegation on his record, it wouldn't bother me as I'm confident he could definitely keep a side of a bigger stature and a bigger budget up.

Why is Dyche so great. Look at his record.

Coyle took Burnley from 15th to the PL.

Holloway took Blackpool to the PL and they played a lot better than Burnley have under Dyche.

I'd rather watch this team in the Champ!!

People talk like he's performed a miracle. He's won under 40% of his games at two clubs. Mac has won 55% of his games at Derby and has a higher win percentage over his entire career than this amazing achievement that Dyche has apparently done.

He got Burnley promoted to the PL. Burnley. Not The Red Lion.

What about Brian McDermott? Higher win percentage with Reading.

Neil Warnock?

Look at how Derby play through the first team to the academy. Then look at how Dyche sets his teams up.

You're mad.

Dyche = Nigel ++ i.e.similar in terms of tight string, eye for a player, values "character" etc but much much better in terms of coaching, tactics and getting the best out of limited resources.

Warburton = Younger McClaren i.e. modern, forward looking European feel, likes technical players.

Simpson = great coach, a risk perhaps, but taking risks is what brought us last season's excitement. might go with Mac to toon.

I trust Rush and Co to handle what needs to be done. Which is nice after the last however many years of Derby County :)
