FA to probe Forest-Derby scuffle

The Football Association has said it will investigate ugly scenes which marred the end of Nottingham Forest's 3-2 win over local rivals Derby.

Forest striker Nathan Tyson waved a corner flag bearing the Forest badge in front of 4,376 travelling Derby fans.

Tyson was then confronted by several Rams players before the majority of both teams, as well as coaching staff, became involved in a tussle.

The FA said the incident would be investigated as "a matter of urgency".

Forest boss Billy Davies said: "I didn't see the incident but if that's what Nathan has done then I will look at the video.

"I remember the last time Derby were here and Robbie Savage was waving a Derby scarf around.

"There was very little made of that and we hope it will be the same for this.

"We never complained about it or made a fuss because we understood that Derby should enjoy the victory they had here."

Derby manager Nigel Clough said: "I was in the dressing room, which I personally think all managers and benches should be at the final whistle.

"I'm sure the referee was out there and the officials were out there so I'm sure they've seen it and it will all be included in their report."

Forest were 3-0 up at half-time and held on to win a fiery encounter despite a spirited Derby comeback.

Billy Davies is a moron. When Savage did it he did it in front of his OWN FANS. tyson did it in front of the opposing fans. After the recent scenes at West Ham I find it incredible that a footballer is braindead enough to do this.I heard an interview with Billy Davies before the match where he stated this is just a 3 point game, nothing more...a normal league game. Then he is getting the home crowd whipped up 10 mins before the end waving his arms about like a mad man.Does he really think people are stupid?

I hope the FA get the corner flag and stick it firmly down nathan tysons throat.

Agree 100 % Dangerous - he goaded our fans with that flag it was a disgrace - most of our players were trying to calm it all down - Billy didn't help matters by coming running towards us waving his arms like an idiot.

we can do without ***** like you ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

because of the antics of that nonentity Tyson and the Glasgow **** Davies, my Mrs was knocked over by fans who until that point had endured having bottles and various assorted crap thrown at them by the ****** in the upper tier, fans who had endured a torrid first half, fans who had behaved impeccably when faced with the standard red sh1te vileness that is usual in your sh1tty little city but who had finally had enough and quite literally wanted to rip the life out of the arrogant stupid little pr1ck.

Tyson should be thanking the Derby players that he is not lying in a hospital bed because had the team not stepped in to end his little charade it is an almost certainty that the fans would have and the West Ham episode in the week would have pailed into insignificance.

Now I for one have had enough of red sh1te for one day. I have finally managed to stop my wife shaking after the events of the day so kindly **** off back to the red side of the Trent where you belong and stay there!

i was there today and last time when that **** savage did what he did.

you can all hide behind the fact that he did what he did in front of the derby fans and tys did what he did not in front of forest fans.

but the outcome on both days was the same

one set of fans were angry and the other set thought it was funny.

btw, derby looked very poor today and commons in a sheep shirt with robbie and lee in forest shirts seems a fair trade off in my books.

to Boycie and normal lads on this site, hard lines today, you have had more than enough joy at mecca to keep you going for a while.

now wheres that silver polish !!!!!!!!!!!:D:D

OBVIOUSLY i was,nt there, but i can see both sides to it!

right to do what he did, wrong to do it infront of the away fans ,

why let this little thing detract from the fact that we were POOR!

we should have more things to worry about than a red waving a corner flag surely?

NON LEAGUE NIGE i know your reading this ,

sort that shambles out please m8!

Robbie Savage is a dirty player and a wind up merchant... he spent most the game (including the warm up) winding up both forest players and fans...

Dont get my wrong that doesn't justify Tyson doing the same back but thats all he was doing... returning the favour - there was no need for the Derby players to turn it into a fight... if he was left to it he would probably have happily gone round the entire ground! lets not forget there are Forest fans in the WB end too!

GEM - i know you don't like me, but I am sorry to hear your Mrs got knocked over... no-one wants that, but to blame BD is stupid, and to blame tyson is close minded... it wasn't tyson that threw the first punch! Your fans were well behaved and took it well until your players escalated it... that aside, i hope she feels better soon and she is able to go back to games with confidence soon

I was merely pointing out how ***** you have been against us in recent times. Yes you may have won the match today, but the second half you looke decidedly average.

To give up 2 goals when you are 3 up shows your complete inability to defend and handle pressure. (I say the same about our first half performance, a draw would have been a fair result) You will lose more than you win this year, and get used to the nervous times when you fail to hold a lead.

You seem to be of the view that Tyson was trying to do a lap of honour. If that were the case he should have gone round the Three pure Forest stands first...by the time he got back round to the Bridgford lower the Derby players would have finsihed applauding our fans and the fanas would have been out fo the ground.

As it was he chose to celebrate infront of the Derby fans, disrupt us showing the appreciation of our teams second half performance, and showing a complete lack of respect for fellow professional and supporters alike.

What Tyson did was at best Stupid, and at worse a deliberate attempt to incite both the Derby players and fans. It was well documented last season he was unhappy with Savage celebrating the cup win with our fans, I eprosnally believe it was a planned and purely aimed at aggrevating the Derby fans.

tyson should be banned, especially at the sensitive time in football. Players need to learn that there actions have consequences and they cant just run around goading people and get away with it.

I would be of the same opinion had it been a Derby player at Pride Park infront of your fans. would you be saying "its okay he was just doing a lap of honour" if it was Savage running round Pride Park and deliberatley chose to run across the front of your supporters brandishing a flag. I dont think so

I see you point, and as I said on the matchday thread, it was stupid...

Yes he should have started the lap of honour the other way, but also as you quite correctly pointed out he wanted to wind your lot up... it was a misjudgement granted, but it was also 'just returning the favour' for what savage had been doing since about 12:30

Savage had been winding up the home fans and Forest players since the warm up, and although that doesn't justify Tyson winding up your lot, it may go some way to explain it (along with how he had taken Savages scarf episode). None of that however is justification for ANYONE least of all a professional footballer that is supposed to set an example to the fans (especially the young fans) to respond with violence.

Yes Tyson was being a Wind Up Merchant, but Derby have no high ground to stand on when it comes to that... but the Derby players turned it into a fight!

And to answer your question about if it had been the other way round... i would have done the same as your fans did... jeer - but in the spirit of the game... i wouldn't have expected it to turn into a fight.

As I have previously said your fans took it well, and responded in an adult manor, and MASSIVE respect has to go to them for that... it is the players that have answers to give!

If Tyson is banned for this, then Savage should be banned for his antics throughout the visit, and the rest of your team should be banned for turning it into violence.

Again, I accept it was stupid, and disrespectful... and as such a fine should be issued - but it did not warrant the reaction your players gave it... THAT is what should result in bans

some fair points there mate, I didnt see all that the players did. The first couple of players from Derby werent aggressive. Leacock just tried to take the flag off him and put his arm round his shoulder then players from both sides rushed in. After that I couldnt see because I was busy trying to haul up a young lad who had fallen over the wall before he got trampled and there were too amny fans between me and the fight. Will not comment on what I didnt see. I havent seen the video yet because I'm stuck at work.

Edit:...I have just watched the video on youtube and if you watch it again after leacock approaches Tyson three Forest players run into him from behind, he cant see them coming, it is after they do this that the Derby players join in. Didnt see any punches being thrown in the clip on youtube.

Savage was just playing hard and your fans near the warm up were taking it good spirit before the game, and giving as good back. Guess it was a combination of frustration and emotions running high after a closely fought local derby.

Is till think that Tyson will get a ban simply bevause he was booked for overcelebrating his goal and his celebrations after the match were also worthy of a yellow card for inciting behaviour....cards can be awarded after the final whistle so 2 yellows equals a red.
