Hello Derby boxing fans,

I've sought permission to post in here and invite you to come and get involved on www.othboxing.com/forum

We're aiming to become the best boxing resource & forum on the net. We've got a few Nottingham based posters but as yet no Derby heads and being honest I much prefer white to red. Please do have a look it'll be great to have your input.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

So, has Bellew got even a prayer on Saturday? I'd have to say no but then it wouldn't be the first time I've written him off - this one just seems a bridge too far even for someone with a heart like he has.

Everything says he will get jabbed in to oblivion but every time I predict Bellew will lose he wins so I can't write him off. The reality is I think he needs to land something big to change the fight. Usyk is a truly world class operator, Bellew will need one hell of a game plan to stop Usyk controlling the distance with his jab. Coldwell usually sets him up well but this is a massive test, if he wins this he can miraculously go down as the best British CW ever... Never thought that could happen in a million years.

Far from being a boxing connoisseur, I do love watching the sport.  Just don't have tb insight to be able to judge who's good and who's great.

One thing o would say is over the last couple of years I've totally changed my opinion on Bellew the man as well as the boxer.

I had him down as a loudmouth.

I got it totally wrong, the bloke is breath of fresh air.

In my opinion he's impossible not to like, very funny guy who is a lot cleverer than I gave him credit for.

His interviews pre fight.

"Mate I'm going to punch him in the face with everything I've got"

Top man. Don't fancy his chances but would love it if he pulled off another shock.

Just catching up on some fights. Josh Taylor... he's class.

Mayweather... so full of poo that he should be in politics. So so full of poo and people pay him. I'd never pay for anything he does unless it's to fight an elite welterweight. His ego, his record and his promotional company it all gets so much attention and I don't see the fascination. The guy is a knob. Boring, fight selecting knob. He's a great fighter but I still think he's overrated. He goes down as a legend and I think he's lost at least 2 fights and picked his opponents cleverly.

I'm a Bellew fan too and don't give him more than a punchers chance BUT...

Usyk is an immense fighter. He's got a solid jab, his footwork is A*, he fires in from so many angles, he has more movement in his shoulders than Bellew has with his head! He sets traps when he finishes a goading attack. However some of his attributes are being played up. He isn't a massive puncher. So providing Bellew can see the shots coming and can control the distance then he should be able to take them on the chin all night. And Usyk can be hit. Once he softens you up and steps in, he admires his own work a bit. He's been hit a few times in previous fights by going into his routine and a wild swing has hit him. He can be hit. He has lost rounds too. He doesn't instantly find his flow.

Bellew needs to control the range. He needs to force Usyk to respect his power at every opportunity. Usyk is supremely confident. He's an arrogant fighter who completely believes he's the best boxer above light heavyweight. And he probably is. If Bellew can take away his rhythm and hit him hard then it just might distract Usyk long enough to land a real KO shot.

But Usyk has fought the elite and they couldn't do it. I don't think Bellew is good enough either but Usyk isn't invincible and Bellew will have the script.

Usyk seems like a top bloke too. Daft as owt.

I'm going Usyk with a points win and maybe a knockdown. A Bellew win by KO is more likely than Leicester winning the PL though.

I don't believe Usyk will have it all his own way.

Pretty much sums my thoughts and prediction up perfectly.  Well played sir.

Bellew tries to intimidate Usyk at the weigh in, he replies by not letting him have his arm back.

I'll give Bellew credit, I would not want to look that bloke in the eyes. They're dead lol.

Also, Usyk is a top bloke out of the ring, like @Alpha says.

5th round stoppage. It's going to hurt, i'm afraid, Tony.

Think it's quite an interesting fight tbf. Usyk one of the more interesting prospects in the division but I think comparisons to Lomachenko overplay his admittedly admirable skill sets. I'd also be surprised to see Usyk win by a KO whilst we also don't yet know how well he takes a shot yet. I think Bellew has to try to turn this into a bit of a roughhouse as if he let's Usyk simply go about his work, Usyk will win a comfortable point decision IMO. If Bellew can tag Usyk though, an upset would not be a huge surprise. For those who like a bet, Betfair Sportsbook are offering Bellew at 100/1 for new accounts whilst Mansionbet offer new accounts 80/1 Bellew or 10/1 Usyk, all limited to a max £1.00 stake though. For those who have neither accounts, the smart bet would be sticking a lucky pound on Bellew to win a hundred with Betfair and cover it with a £1 win bet on Usyk with Mansion for a guaranteed, potentially modest profit.

Me and my lad have livened up the undercard by playing a game.

If you could hit the other with a ball in the face, you had to do a shot. We've done half a bottle of Black Sambuca, half of Tequila Rose, and I called an end to it after a few shots of Jager.

We're meant to be up early to paint, can't see it myself!

Took Usyk a while to find his flow but he was always going to find it eventually if Bellew couldn't find a KO.

He kept the range well and he tried to nail Usyk but the defence on Usyk is far too good. He rolls punches in his sleep. The crowd got excited but almost everything that landed on Usyk was when he was rolling with the shot or had his guard up. Just got too much. Someone out there is going to have to have the same discipline Bellew had early on but the timing and power to punish Usyk for pushing.

Usyk hasn't even got massive power but his relentless pressure and heavy combos are overwhelming. You have to make him respect you and he just doesn't.

Hope he fights in the UK soon again. Pleasure to watch in the ring and out. Bravo

Undercard...

Don't know why Crolla is so popular. I find him a bit dull.

Allen was Allen. Showed some nice punch variety and angles but moved like a tractor.

Josh Kelly had harder sparring. Not sure the point

Didn't watch Ricky Burns. Not really interested in his hunt for a title since he clearly pooed himself when challenged by Josh Taylor. Best days are in the past.

Two cruisers at the start were a good watch. The white dude was in total control until one punch, which he took really well, caused fight ending swelling. Very unlucky for it to swell like that after you took it so well.

That 4 round fight was alright.

Decent night rather than spectacular. Lots of expected winners.

Yep, decent entertainment and agree with pretty much all of your assessments. Shame to see Bellew stopped. Think Usyk broke his heart after some early success. Have grown to like Bellew over the years. Can't remember why I wasn't keen to start tbh. Seems pretty genuine and has worked hard to improve to a level few would have thought he could. Doubtless has a nice few quid stashed away for his 'retirement' so fair play to him really. Interesting now to see what Usyk does next. The step up to HW looks inevitable - can he mimic Holyfield's success? Not sure but his presence would definitely add some spark to the division. A match up against Joshua would be a absolutely huge but a few hoops to jump first I guess.

Kicked off at the Fury/Wilder presser.

Seems like Wilder lost it.

Hope Fury bangs him out.

Wilder is a guy that owns a bazooka, a gold desert eagle and wants a body on his record. He fights for the black race, he's a King and a soldier who's put on this earth to punish people for their sins.

Hopefully Tyson can put his jaw out of action for a bit because the guy is a complete dick head.

I find his act quite tiresome now. Him and his team are very very boring but loud. I want him to lose his title, his money fight v AJ and whatever small support he has in America.

I mean Tyson talks poo but he's got layers and there's a good bloke in there.

Wilder talks poo. Like full time. With any decency becoming deeper with every ego boosting win against the easiest opponents he can get away with. Knobber
