Personally really hoping Jenson has a stonking season. For me he's the real successor to the classic British racers like Graham Hill.

He's quicker than his style suggests, he's charming, intelligent and very gentlemanly.

Can't seem to warm to Hamilton at all, yes he is blindingly quick and good to watch but off-track he comes across as some kind of wannabe American, and the God stuff is a real turn-off.

For the record, been to 2 grand prix, 1985 European at Brands Hatch and the 1987 British GP at Silverstone. 5 of us in a Transit for the whole weekend, camping and wandering around the infield in the evening and the Beastie Boys banging out on the tape player.

For race day we got ourselves a nice little spot at the end of the Hangar Straight and the atmosphere was amazing, we could see Mansell catching Piquet, each lap we'd peer up the top of the straight and each lap he got closer and closer until he pulled that move right in front of us. Never had a feeling like that since and everyone piling on the track at the end in joyous celebration just topped it all off.

Aah, happy days☺

Next up, the legend that is Sir Geoff Crammond!!

Jealous you saw a GP at Brands, @ColonelBlimp. It's infinitely better than that horrid, windy, featureless, soulless, shabby, pathetic excuse for a circuit in the form of Silverstone.

From pictures my parents took around that era it looked a lot better then when it still had the the feel of an old airfield about it. At least then it had something to it that was a bit different to the rest of the calendar.

Go to Brands Hatch and the people who work there are happy to have you. The people at Silverstone seem to be annoyed that you're disturbing their windy car park by turning up.

Oh dear Sauber

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2015/03/10/van-der-garde-should-get-sauber-seat-court-rules/

The Supreme Court of Victoria has upheld Giedo van der Garde’s claim to a right to drive for Sauber in this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

A representative for van der Garde said the driver is “ready, willing and able to preform his obligations” to the team.

Van der Garde had brought a case arguing the team was in breach of its contract with him by giving its two race seats for 2015 to Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson. His claim had previously been upheld by the Swiss courts.

Sauber attempted to reject the case on the grounds that there was insufficient time to prepare a chassis in order for him to be able to drive it safely.

Further detail on the judgement is expected shortly.
