Pretty sure we did the exact same thing against Forest at the City Ground once and scored?

What, Derby, officiating a game between Forest and Derby didn't stop play? When did Derby become a referee?

It's entirely the referee's responsibility to stop play, not the players, Derby did the right thing to play on there, and Ipswich did the right thing to play on yesterday. The referee is the one who is meant to stop play for a severe injury, and tend to the player, regardless of "how injured" at the next break in play, rather than letting a team get on with a quick free kick.

It seems to suggest jeff didn't dive and that we should have had a penalty?

An injury doesn't mean foul.

Difference with the Forest game mentioned above to yesterday was that, at the Kuwait Ground, the ball never went dead before we put it in the back of the net. Yesterday, not only did the ref give them a soft free kick inside our half as they broke forward, but he also let them take the free kick quickly.

As Albert says, not only against the rules of the game, but also against every ounce of common sense going.

Considering the nature of the mistake (a player with a potentially long injury layoff being left prone on the turf behind play) and his overall performance, I'd be surprised to see that referee on the list for a fortnight from now.

Agreed. He had a shocking game but that put the icing on it for me. His assistant in front of the East Stand was just as bad - he made some absolutely shocking calls, missed a blatant handball right in front of him.
