I thought England would be shamed after the Australia performance into a better performance. I didn't think a worse performance was even possible. Really think after this we should sack the coach and the captain.

We should really be protesting though in the strongest possible terms , we are not playing with the same balls  ( any way you look at it ) , as the opposition , theirs skittle us out for nowt , they smack ours all over the shant, we should ask for an investigation an ask for a points deduction from both the Aussies  ,and the Kiwi's if they are found to be playing better than us .

Some notes on net run rate by the way. As it's determined from aggregate scores, it's actually almost certainly the case that it will improve from here for England. It's determined from the addition of all score cards for and against and the difference of the runrates for and against.

That is, as England conceded 342 in 50 and 125 in 12.2, it's treated as though it's 467 in 62.2. As they scored 231 and 123, both bowled out, they are considered to have scored 354 in 100 overs (you are considered to have batted your 50 if you're bowled out). This means that even if England batted second and conceded 300 in 50 overs in the next match, they'd only need 78 or better in their own 50 to improve their net run rate.

As it's Scotland next though England have a chance to make up some of that net run rate. Scoring 400+ and knocking Scotland over for 100 undo the net run rate damage, but with Bangladesh picking up a point today, it won't come into play against them.
