eddie
I turned over. Watching the gumps winning was more enjoyable than watching England try to play one day cricket.
Anag Ram
But that's been the case for years and despite a coaching team of thousands, it remains the case. England always look genuinely surprised when the ball spins as if some kind of witchcraft is at play. Nobody has the skill or the bravery to go down the pitch and disrupt their rhythm. Also, England's top six is made up of players who need time to build an innings. So, if there's help for the bowlers and wickets fall, not only are we in trouble wickets-wise, but we suddenly need ten an over to get a half decent score. We need a one-day side full of specialists not test players trying to adapt.

Anag Ram
The 20:20 squad still lacks six-hitters and wicket-takers. Harry Gurney lacks the control required of an 80mph bowler. Hales is great at the top of the order and Jason Roy is exciting. Sam Northeast probably unlucky.
Curtains
This is a diabolical England one day side and Cook is hopeless. Ali did his best with a good innings and Morgan and Root did ok England 202-9. 47.3 overs. To be honest the batting is awful in the main for 50 over stuff. Looks like 3-0 after 4 games to India unless England bowlers produce a miracle Just not good enough and we have no chance in the World Cup. Curtains
England all out for 206 against India at Edgbaston and that is so poor. Ali did try his best with a quick fire 67 Michael Atherton just said that was desperate by England.

Ovis aries
What do you think is wrong with them. Too many Test players trying to play one day cricket , sack most of them , get the specialists in. You have to have players that consistently score a run a ball , even if they only score 30 or 40 , do not want players that think it is great to score a century in 150/60 balls , no good. AndyinLiverpool
What do you think is wrong with them. I don't think we've ever had clear thinking with our one-day team. Even when we've reached world cup finals, I've never actually thought we'd win. Now we've been totally left behind. Primarily because our top players have not been allowed to play in the IPL. Now our top players are unable to play at such intensity and under so much pressure. They are simply not used to it. Compare the atmosphere at a cloudy Southampton with Calcutta. The ECB completely missed the boat on this and now nobody would pick (e.g.) Ian Bell or Alistair Cook over even 3rd or 4th string Australian batsmen. The main problem is one of ability. The second problem is one of outlook. Much as an army starts fighting a war in the same way as it fought the last one, so England cricket, never a hotbed of redial thinking, has found itself always a step behind. Picking occasional bowlers who bat well, pinch-hitters, opening the bowling with spin are just some of the innovations England have ummed and aahhed about long after others have moved on. And I could go on. We need to be prepared to have a go. We need a captain and a coach and a regime that is prepared to risk, prepared to risk being all out for 70 in the pursuit of scores of over 300. We don't need the meek (Cook) the technical (Moores) or the moronic (Downton). We need adventurers. If we are to get rubbish scores, then let's at least look like we were trying to get big scores.
