Don't know why they think we're getting arrogant, all I've heard from Derby fans is how tough this game will be. Maybe this will sound arrogant but after last seasons successes I think some jealousy is breeding. The Wednesday fans are desperate to "put us in our place" so to speak.

To get to 3rd in the league, you have to beat a lot of teams. And when you beat a lot of teams, a lot of teams want revenge. Why do you think they keep talking about the game last year where Bamford stole the 3 points for us? Because they're thinking "Derby aren't so special, and now they think they're top 6 quality. My beloved Wednesday are better than these guys (because every football fan thinks this about their team). Can't wait for us to show them how average they are".

Revenge. That's all it's about. I said after Wembley our season would be difficult because of this. After our defeat in the playoff final, teams are swarming around us like we're a wounded animal and they're desperate to finish us off. Similar to why some relegated teams struggle in the Championship. A touch of jealousy. That is a touch arrogant for me to say that, okay, but it is jealousy.

I agree.I for one understand that we have to play our best every game to get the result we want. Some teams are jealous of us due to current setup and that is understandable. However,if we want to get promoted as a majority of people have said than we cannot take any other team lightly and that continues this Saturday.

Would love to thrash them! They always bang on about there support which doesn't get you points. Got loads of the inbreds where I work along with Sheff utd fans and Cardiff and Leeds. I'll take a point to be fair but if we want top 2 need a win!

Going to be a tough game this. Sheff Wednesday are much improved under Stuart Gray, much more of an attacking threat and also defend well as a unit. I'd be happy with a point here but I suspect we may be a little to much for them in the latter stages of the match. I'm going 0-1, Best scoring in the last ten minutes.

Went to this fixture last year, going again this year. Lots to consider on predicting any kind of result. It was a very tough match last season, they were resilient and we found it hard to find a way through. The game could have gone either way in truth. It took a special strike from Bamford to eventually get us all the points.

From what I can gather on their side, they are in the process of a quiet and seemingly successful rebuild. No longer the 'hoofball'/park the bus team of two or three season's ago (if what is being said on some of their forums is to be believed) Additionally, they have had a good pre-season and started this league campaign with a decent enough win. They will be confident.

As for Derby, we have started the season with wins but have looked rusty and far from our best. We have not quite achieved the level of sharpness and fitness on which our playing style depends. I think we will properly hit our stride in another four or five games and take it from there. In the mean time I think we will have to grind some results out without necessarily firing on all cylinders, although improving slowly with each match.

In the end, I think I would take a draw right now but would obviously be delighted with a win.

2-2  (Martin, Best)

There seems to be a fair amount of slinging on both sides, some of the comments on Owlstalk are fairly moronic but you get that on any football forum. I have certainly heard of your midfielders and am pretty envious, but I wouldn't write us off.

Those of you saying we're in a rebuild are dead right, the hoofballing went out the window along with that clown Jones, Gray has got us playing some decent stuff, he doesn't like it any other way (as illustrated by us flogging Antonio to Forest). We've changed a hell of a lot from the side you demolished 3-0 (one of the worst days of the season for me by the way, what a waste of money), we certainly won't be playing a midfield of McPhail and Olofinjana, Lee and Hutchinson are very solid (and athletic, unlike the two has-beens you saw at Pride Park) at this level.

Also, the poster who came to the game against Charlton, fully agree we were dire that night, but Llera is now at Ssausagehorpe, Zayatte leaves the bench only for 10 minute stints and even then, we were unusually poor that night. You won't see Madine in the starting line-up on Saturday either. I know Nuhiu is generally written off by other teams' fans (and rather too many of our own), but he is a very useful player, holds the ball up well, wins headers, gets into great positions and provides terrific service for the other strikers. Unfortunately I can also see him being bullied by your centre-halves, so you may not see him at his best. Maguire has come on leaps and bounds from his time with you, he works extremely hard and one thing I would not describe him as is wasteful, he's very efficient in front of goal and plays well down the wing.

I've always respected, Derby, you've got a terrific side and I'm not one of these who has a vendetta against McClaren either. Being brutally honest I expect you to win, as May won't have had enough time to bed in and I can see Buxton and Keogh completely dominating Nuhiu, meaning we'll be pretty toothless. But we're a tough nut to crack and if we play anything like we did against Brighton, you certainly won't find it easy. Good luck for Saturday, and for the rest of the season, might keep checking back here every now and again to see how things are In the top half of the table.

Btw, I know we bang on about our support a lot, but it's mainly because we've had absolutely nothing else to cheer for in years :p

Good post mate. If Nuhiu is good in the air then there's joy to be found against us with decent service.

I like Derby v Wednesday games because i think the clubs are similar. Your away support is good. That's a fact. No good arguing that it isn't.

Good luck in the season. Wednesday are one of the teams I hate less than the rest.

I'm expecting a 2-2 draw where you really swarm that midfield early on and hurt us on set pieces or deliveries into the box. Then I predict we'll begin to work the ball smarter and quicker and by the end we'll be on top.

Nice post, forgive us for being arrogant, we've been absolutely bang average for so long now that the suprise of playing the best stuff we've had in 15 years it's difficult not to get excited/arrogant etc..

Sheff Wednesday, like us, have been hovering between average and dire for such a long time that if the roles were reversed, I'm sure your fans would be as joyful as ours.

The best part about it is that we've done it on a fraction of the cost as other teams - makes me sick when I see Leicester fans trying to prove that they've done it in a unique manner worthy of gaining praise. Feckers have spent more than 20m over the past few years and have a wage bill which is probably close to treble ours.

I'm not after recognition or praise, just allow us our moment - feck it's been long enough and should we not get promoted this season it could be the last of genuinely decent players like Martin, Hendrick and Hughes.

I don't think we are arrogant.

The reaction i see most is that fans half fear it'll all come to pieces in the next match, or the match after that etc.

We've been shiit for so song, that we can't quite believe that this can be sustainable.

This is why fans brick themselves about keogh or fear christie will be a weak link.

They over react to any possible change or risk.

When did we last have two good seasons in a row?

Its got to be @16 years ago.

We had one good season under Burley.

And we've had one under Mac.

Fortunately i don't think the wheels are about to come off.

Because we haven't sold anyone.
