Angry Ram
2014 absolute rubbish. Crap quality all round. Fancy dress everywhere, face paint hell. Even saw on geezer in a half an half shirt the other day. Brazil tears... Pitiful.. Sad.. Embarrassing.. Few goals I will grant but overall play about 4/10. Nobody has been any good really. Classic games? None. No flags, sad ***** who spend 90 mins looking up at the big screens to see if they come on.. Crap TV coverage.. One or two individual highs but not enough for me. Roll on next Sunday and it will be finished. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15532-pants-world-cups/ Share on other sites
Srg
You really are Angry. This has been the best one since probably Korea/Japan. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15532-pants-world-cups/#findComment-638055 Share on other sites
kingsy1884
I agree this has been one has been decent plenty of goals and the best part is the fact there are no vuvuzelas. This one in comparison to 2010 is miles better. 2010 was one of the worst ever. Srg
Oh you're in the camp where every shot, every pass and every tackle has to be inch perfect for a game to be good. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15532-pants-world-cups/#findComment-638065 Share on other sites
Cisse
Really.... Honestly.... What's been good? Quality of football? A lot of goals and Italy and Russia out early. Good tournament so far. Bris Vegas
Been the best World Cup since I've started following football to be honest. Even the poorer nations have given it a good go and to say some of the games haven't been classics is harsh. Define a classic? A 3-3 draw between Brazil and Germany? That happens like once every 20 years and hardly in a competition where so much is riding on it. There have been some great games at this World Cup. Holand vs Australia Mexico vs Croatia Germany vs Ghana USA vs Portugal France vs Switzerland Algeria vs South Korea England vs Italy was decent as well. Not to mention some wonder goals from David Luiz, James Rodriguez, Lionel Messi and Fellaini of all people. This by far tops the 98, 02, 06 and 2010 IMO on goals, entertanment and surprises. Not at all... that would be boring.. Just not buying into the hype of this one.. There has to be some quality though.. Just sat through Belgium v Argies and again not impressed. Srg
Some of these knockout games have been turgid, admittedly, but they've still had some moment of high drama in them at the end. apart from Brazil's Stoke-like display of thuggery and anti-football last night. Bris Vegas
Also how can you say nobody has been any good? Players like James Rodriguez, Divock Origi, Ochoa, Keylor Navas and Ahmed Musa have practically won themselves big moves to big clubs on the basis of this World Cup. Think you're judging the who tournament on Argentina, Germany and Brazil's 1-0 or 2-1 wins in recent games. A classic is difficult to define.. A boxing match of a game if you like. This year and 2010 far too plastic and commercial for me.. Yes some decent games but with poor quality, it is meant to be the apex of football. Just dont like the whole vibe of the thing. No not expecting Messi to destroy everyone, one world class pass was decent. What were you impressed with? I can understand if you think you've been sold short, that's fair enough and to be honest I've been slightly disappointed with both Argentina and Germany so far in the way they've laboured through games. I reckon there have been some excellent end to end games though, though not necessarily between the top teams. Greece against Costa Rica was a right ding-dong in extra-time and for me personally I loved Mexico and Croatia's winner takes all match. Bris Vegas
About 87 mins of it... No not expecting Messi to destroy everyone, one world class pass was decent. What were you impressed with? Argentina's solid defending and I think Higuain was absolutely brilliant. Belgium, like France before them, seem to have no belief that they could win the game. This game certainly wasn't a classic. In fact, it was pretty void of goalmouth action throughout. But I enjoy watching Messi play no matter who for and who is the opposition. The guy is an absolute genius even when he's not 100% fit and everytime he gets the ball nothing is beyond him. That control he did on the edge of the box in the first-half where he drew the foul was magical, as was his throughball for Di Maria. Argentina IMO would be pretty turgid to watch if Di Maria, Higuain, Lavezzi and Messi aren't on form. Luckily so far, at least one of them has managed to dig the Argies out of a hole each game. If they all click at the same time, they will win the World Cup. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15532-pants-world-cups/#findComment-638093 Share on other sites
StaffsRam
Only side that has disappointed me has been Russia. With the players they have, they looked so disinterested. They should have absolutely blitzed South Korea, and Algeria, and given Belgium a run for their money. Greece were.....Greece. They don't really have the players to play any other way. All the rest, at least tried. Have to say, I really enjoyed watching the US. They play with a certain level of naivity that's just refreshing/great to watch. Alph
France 98 was my favourite. This was good but the knockout games have mostly been quite dull from what I've seen. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15532-pants-world-cups/#findComment-638489 Share on other sites
