Jeff Hendrick

So with reasonable possibility of Bryson leaving (I'd rather him not but this thread is not the place for that), it seems as if Jeff Hendrick will be the main man next season alongside young William (should he stay too...)

Personally, I feel there is no reason we can't expect a similar goal outlay from him that Bryson. He has a better long range shot on him that Bryson, and arrives late in much the same fashion. It's something he's clearly been working on - and we started to see the results with the goals he scored in last month of the season.

I don't believe it will be a like for like comparison, as should we sign some of the players rumoured such as Jutkiewicz, we may well see a slightly different role there in midfield.

However, Hendrick has some great attributes. He's got height, strength and athleticism. He's probably quicker than Bryson too, if not quite as good on the stamina front.

He would have some big shoes to fill, but no reason why he couldn't.

Only worry I'd have is the lack of experience in the 3 man midfield, Hendrick (22), Thorne (21) and Hughes (19). And if Hendrick or Hughes were to get injured/suspended their replacement would be either Coutts (Not played CM for quite a while) or Bunjaku (Don't think he's played a senior game in his career)

The key part of your sentence there is "few games".

Bryson got us to third in the league not Hendrick, I think without him we do have ample replacements but not better.

Bryson did not single-handedly get us to third in the league. The team playing the way we did got us to such a high position, Bryson played well, granted, but I would argue Martin was more pivotal...

Agreed Martin was more important but in my opinion without his 16 goals and loads of assists we would not have made 3rd.

As I said if we only had Hughes and Hendrick last season we could have done just as well I just don't think we would have.

Oh, no doubt he was an important player but, if he goes, I feel Hendrick will develop into a better player this season probably.
