Yorkshire Claret
Gossip, rumour, speculation! Comes from Nixon, and so probably only a 5% chance of it being correct, today we've (Burnley) been linked with Bryson (£750k!!!?) and Keogh. Not great for you guys however Bryson at £750k would certainly be a steal. As for Keogh, I remain to be convinced and think there are probably other central defence targets for Burnley (Dawson at WBA). Hope you're all looking forward to the new season after the agony of last. I was really sorry to see QPR do it instead if you. climbon
I have nothing against Burnley and wish you well next season...however if you (or any other team) take Bryson for 750k, I will personally lead a mob of dcfc fans up to Burnley where you will experience destruction the likes of which hasn't been seen since the days of the Viking raids!! Yorkshire Claret
I'm sure Burnley was the Vikings first port of call when considering their invasions. :-D I take it WBA have been playing hard ball with Thorne? Now there's a player I'd love to have at Burnley, for a small club like ours, players like Thorne would be ideal, obvious potential and a decent chance of a good future resale value. We will always be a selling club and transfers our bread and butter. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622294 Share on other sites
Alph
Bryson is an energetic tidy player. He looks better in our current set up. He's never looked this good before. All my opinion but I don't think he'd be much good to you. The fit is wrong. You'll see little more than an energetic tidy player. He's not a playmaker and I doubt he'll get the licence to get forward like he does here. For £750k he's worth a gamble. Keogh has been a different player under McClaren. That's the thing about Derby, we're definitely a team. A lot of talk about losing our players but I think a lot of them are a fit rather than brilliant players. I hope they see it like that too. The system, the style, the partnerships... joy to watch Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622306 Share on other sites
kingsy1884
Bryson is rubbish you dont want to buy him especially for that much. He has got no pace, stamina and cant scored for toffee Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622316 Share on other sites
cannable
Keogh has been a different player under McClaren. To me Keogh looks the same old awkward player, he still makes a potentially costly mistake every other game or so. He looks better because of our new found defensive organisation. Don't forget that McClaren is supposedly "the best defensive coach in the country", he wouldn't have that at Burnley. The point you make about Bryson not working can be applied to Keogh as well. In a team such as Burnley's it's highly unlikely that he'd have the licence to bring the ball out of defence. That's his best asset gone. eddie
750k buyout clause supposedly I get the impression that Nixon will continue screaming this from the rooftops, because the only way we will ever know for certain that he was right is if Bryson moves and one club or the other say that the fee was £750k. If he is wrong, then Bryson doesn't get sold and we are all none the wiser that Nixon is/was spouting a bunch of tosh. Of course, there is the possibility that Bryson is sold for a stated price other than £750k - in which case Nixon will look the arse he is (unless the fee is 'undisclosed', of course) Just saying. Yorkshire Claret
Is Bryson box box. I had him down as more of an attacking midfielder than someone who drops deep for the ball. Bit of a run off the strikers type? Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622325 Share on other sites

Bit of a run off the strikers type? Attacking. Used to be very box to box but our new system leaves him relevantly far up the pitch most of the time Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622328 Share on other sites

Alph
Is Bryson box box. I had him down as more of an attacking midfielder than someone who drops deep for the ball. Bit of a run off the strikers type? That's how he's been this season. In this system. Bryson has been more of a support player for us. Great energy but never really had that killer ball in him as such. He's not especially a disruptive player either. Just busy. But this season where it seems we've just told the guy to get beyond Martin and use his energy to play as sort of a forward at every opportunity he's flourished.his energy means he can easily drop back in throughout 90mins. If you drop him in a traditional system I don't think he'll look so good and I honestly think unless you get him for £750k then you're wasting your money. As a box to box midfielder I think he's just...busy. Think Leon Britton where he's very busy but doesn't actually do a great deal. Sounds like I don't rate him. I do. I'd say the same about a few of our players. Forsyth is a fantastic LB now he's grown into it. But it took time and he's not one of those drop in ready made players to improve a team. Same as Keogh really. You've got to look at where and how these players were performing. Bryson and Hendrick have played a lot of games for us. Yet the way they've all performed last season owes a lot to good management, team spirit and attitude. No superstars here. Yorkshire Claret
If we were to get him, I wouldn't be surprised to see us use him in a midfield five, especially away from home. Ings (if he stays) and Vokes together might leave us too open in midfield in the PL, although Ings is a real worker and drops back well. We really only have Marney and Jones in CM and therefore need a couple more options and that extra bit of something else. Bryson and Thorne (no rumour just a personal choice) would be good accompaniments / alternatives to those two. Grantona
Don't know why Burnley would want Keogh - they had the best defence in the championship last season, and I can't see Keogh improving it. He is better off staying with the Rams.. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622396 Share on other sites
Yorkshire Claret
Michael Duff won't be a regular in the PL so we need a CB. Think there are better options out there than Keogh though. Ambitious
Sorry, I can't imagine Bryson in Burnley's team. It's ridiculous. It'd be like us signing Danny Ings in replace of Martin. It's just not suitable for the system. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/15311-bryson-and-keogh/#findComment-622435 Share on other sites
Alph
Bryson strikes me as very much the loyal type. Can't see him leaving this summer at all. Me neither. I think pretty much all our players will fancy another shot at promotion. The danger of moving to Burnley/QPR is that we could possibly end up swapping places. They might get a decent pay out of it but they might not get a game or whatever. If we look unlikely in January though...
